During our club's 45 years of service in the Whitsundays, we have proudly supported the youth of the area, either by running programs for young people or providing opportunities not available in our area by sponsoring students to attend.

Over the years, the club has:
🧳Both sponsored and hosted Rotary Youth Exchange Students
🔬Sponsored Year 12 students to attend National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) held in either Canberra or Brisbane
🧪Sponsored students to attend the Science Experience at Queensland universities.
🚙 Organised and/or sponsored youth driver awareness programs
⚓ Sponsored students to participate in the Young Endeavour Sail Training Program
🏆Donate annual prizes for Proserpine State High School Awards night, including the School Dux Award.
🌭 Provided a sausage sizzle each year for students as they registered for Schoolies Week.

Our youth - our future!

As we celebrate our club's 45 year anniversary today, we remember the key role the club has taken over many of those years, in organizing and / or sponsoring two of the major events that Airlie Beach always enjoys: the annual Carols by the Beach, and the Street Parade held as part of the Great Barrier Reef Festival. For a couple of years, the club also sponsored the Wearable Art Competition (and provided a judge and MC) that was held as part of the Reef Festival. The club acknowledges the support of community partners such as Whitsunday Regional Council, the Reef Festival Committee, local schools, performers, and businesses such as Airlie Beach Music Centre to bring these events to fruition.

What do you remember about these events?

Congratulations to Proserpine State High School Year 12 student Tiarne Watson for winning the Zone finals of the Lions Youth of the Year at the weekend. Tiarne was representing Proserpine Lions Club in the final, which was hosted by Whitsunday Lions at the Whitsunday Sailing Club. Tiarne is kicking goals this year, as she was one of two students our club sponsored to attend the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) in January. She will represent the local zone at the District Youth of the Year finals in Townsville at the end of the month. All the best Tiarne!

Orange Sky is a non-profit organisation providing free laundry and genuine connection to people in our communities experiencing homelessness or hardship.

Orange Sky Laundry is currently looking for passionate locals to join its team in the Whitsundays, with shifts running at Whitsundays Coin Laundry in Jubilee Pocket.

The Orange Sky volunteers have one of the most important roles, connecting with people doing it tough and supporting them through clean laundry, and non-judgmental conversation.

Congratulations to Amelia Brain, who was recently presented with the 2025 Proserpine State High School Dux Award: a most worthy recipient. This award is proudly sponsored annually by our Club.

Proserpine State High School proudly congratulates 2025 graduate Amelia Brain, who was presented with the Dux Award at our formal Assembly. This prestigious award recognises the highest academic achievement across the graduating cohort, and Amelia’s results reflect an outstanding culmination of her secondary studies.

Amelia demonstrated exceptional dedication to academic excellence throughout Year 12, achieving an impressive ATAR. Her success is the result of consistent effort, discipline and a genuine commitment to learning. Amelia has been accepted to study Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland, Gatton Campus, with aspirations to one day own her own veterinary practice.

We are extremely proud of all her achievements and wish her the very best in her future endeavours.
