Great visiting SA Housing Trust yesterday evening to farewell a legendary delegate and customer service officer.

Brian is very passionate about the tough work that Housing Trust customer service officers perform. He proudly stood before a rally last year demanding better pay.

All the best in retirement Brian! We are sure this won’t be the last we hear of you!

Funny how there's never enough money for public sector workers... But it's cool and fine to spend more than $4 million a day on consultants. 👀 Thats taxpayer money, going into the hands of private companies 😬 yikes.

"Public Service Association general secretary, Charlotte Watson, told how difficult government negotiations were to “squeeze” money out including shutting down the justice system.

“Yet the cost per year on consultants pays for our members’ pay rise three times over,” she said.

“Consultants are not subject to the public sector code of ethics and model employer requirements, so it creates real integrity issues as well.

She said the state budget should “prioritise a thriving public sector that does not need consultants as a crutch to get by”.

Today is a public holiday, and there are hundreds of public sector workers who are at work, keeping South Australia running.

Every role matters, the “frontline” doesn’t work without the essential people ‘behind the scenes’.

Your work matters. Your contribution matters. And your union is proud to stand alongside you.

The demarcation between ‘frontline’ and ‘non-frontline’ is a myth. It’s one service. Every worker is essential to delivering housing, health, education, environmental protection, and high-performing courts and prisons.

“Who will be cut, Treasurer?”

Hear it straight from PSA Assistant General Secretary, Celia Brougham.

Last night the SA Government revealed plans to impose a public sector hiring freeze in Thursday’s State Budget.

This morning PSA General Secretary, Charlotte Watson, spoke to ABC Radio Adelaide about the PSA’s serious concerns about the impact this decision will have on members, public services and the South Australians who rely on them.

On 3 June 1992 the Australian High Court delivered the historic Mabo decision.

The Mer Islanders – led by Eddie Koiki Mabo –successfully challenged the Government of Australia on the decision of granting Australia as Terra Nullius (meaning ‘nobody’s land’) when the British colonised.

The court case was a lengthy 10-year ordeal. Eddie Koiki Mabo passed away 5 months before the final decision was handed down.

Eddie was a proud union delegate, and helped to organise his fellow workers in the railways.
