The final day of National Reconciliation Week every year is one of the most significant in Australia.

Mabo Day, celebrated annually on 3 June, commemorates Mer Island man Eddie Koiki Mabo and his successful advocacy to overturn the legal fiction of terra nullius, or ‘land belonging to no-one’.

Following the High Court’s Mabo decision, Australia’s Federal Parliament passed the Native Title Act 1993 which established a legal framework for native title claims throughout Australia by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

and Mabo Day are a reminder to be ‘All In’ to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to commit ourselves to reconciliation and the fight for First Nations justice in Australia.

SANTS is hosting a forum for native title groups on 16-17 June to discuss future directions and priorities for Prescribed Bodies Corporate (PBCs) in South Australia.

Invitations have been sent directly to PBCs and native title claim groups, with each asked to nominate two delegates to attend on their behalf.

The forum is an important opportunity to contribute to future planning and decision-making. It's a chance for attendees to connect with other PBCs, share experiences and challenges, and provide feedback to SANTS on how we can better support their aspirations.

The two-day forum on Ngadjuri Country will include a session focused on youth perspectives. Young people aged 18-25 with connections to a native title group can register their interest to attend here: http://bit.ly/4dAUUq1

Please note this is a SANTS and PBC-only forum. Travel, accommodation and meals will be provided, but there will be no sitting fees.

🗓️ Date: 16-17 June
📍Venue: Novotel Barossa Valley Resort
📝 Youth EOIs close 8 June 2026
