Look at the "Dazzling Donna" from Coles in McLaren Vale!

And how can you not have a smile that big when 9 boxes and 1 large bag filled with goodies have been donated. These donations will go a long way towards achieving our goal of 200 bags for the winter season.

With the rebirth of , we're still in our infancy, and management changes at Coles, meant we wobbled through our first joint venture like a baby taking its first steps. And yet we made some magic happen!

❤️❤️❤️ Thank you to everyone who donated items to Coles in McLaren Vale and a special mention to Wendy Dziadek, Gemma and "Dazzling Donna" for making it possible.
❤️❤️❤️

Yesterday, I delivered the last of 39 bags - comprising of 20 womens bags and 19 childrens bags, aged from newborns to 8yrs old - to the lovely ladies at Coolock House.

Coolock House offer a Young Family Support Program that provides support and accommodation for young parents, up to the age of 25 years, and their children, who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Twice a year, Life in a Bag gets the exact number and age of the women and children in their program so that each and every individual will receive a personally packed bag, and no one misses out 🫶

A huge thank you to Gayle Tomkins and her community at the Brighton 7th Day Adventist Church as majority of these bags are from her congregation 👏

2 weeks ago I had the joy of attending my 4th Bailey's Backpacks event in Whitmore Square.

Karen Berry and her loyal followers put their hearts into these events, this time even hosting a sausage sizzle and various meals supplied for those experiencing homelessness and tough times.

Through these events, we are making more connections with each other (hello Paula Wilson) and as a community we can stretch our resources to help more people in the city and southern area.

Here is the first "official" collection of items for our winter bags.

I collected these items on Saturday from Raelene and the ladies from Knit4Charities SA on Kangaroo Island.

These items will be distributed to those experiencing tough times through the southern suburbs. Then on my next trip to KI, I'll be taking a selection of our personally packed bags back to the island to show support to the local community

So grateful to have made the connection with Raelene and allow Life in a Bag to extend our support to those in need.

A massive shout out to Kathy at the Hackham Community Centre for being such a great sport and Life in a Bags next top model.

A combination of baby, toddler, and children's bags - nine bags in total - are readily available for visitors to the centre to access as needed.

We are happy to announce that the community centre will hopefully be receiving our bags on a regular basis. In order to do that, we need your help to keep the supplies available. Please send us a message for more information on how you can help - one bag at a time 🫶

What a miserable and wet weekend, but what better day to get started on our winter bags campaign.

In the previous group there were a number of drop off locations throughout the southern fleurieu, but alas, I don't have all of those details anymore. Thankfully, I have a couple of significant contributors who found our new group and they are onboard to help again this year 👏👏👏

However, one of our favourite mottos is , so the more people WHO can help, means the more people WE can help. So what does this mean for you....

Please, if anyone works in an office or a team environment with a good social media presence and following, can you please please consider being a donation point for our winter essentials.

All you need to do is have the poster printed and visible for the dates mentioned, like, share and follow our page, and have an accessible area or small box to collect donations from people who are willing to contribute. I will collect all donations.

Please contact me if you'd like more details 🤞

Last night, 6 youth (3 male, 3 female) based bags, and a bag of blankets and a sleeping bag, were delivered to the Streetlight Youth Outreach program at the Christie Downs Skate Park.

The Streetlight van engages with youths that may be in vulnerable situations and endeavours to build relationships and trust with them by offering support and positive mentoring.

It is estimated that over 28,000 young people aged 12–24 are homeless on any given night. Often representing a hidden population, these youths are sleeping rough, in various care and/or couch surfing, living below the poverty line.

Together with Streetlight, Life in a Bag is aiming to help the youth be seen, heard, and valued in our communities and building confidence and discovering their full potential.

At Life in a Bag, we're going to do this by specifically tailoring our bags for this often overseen and missed aged bracket. Focusing on teenage skin care, hygiene products, and carefully thought out personal items, each bag will aim to bring a bit of happiness into each recipients day 🫶

If you want to help , get more of these bags distributed, please reach out!
