The 2021 Census found that 122,494 people were experiencing homelessness in Australia. Almost one in four were young people aged 12–24, one in seven were children under 12, and one in five identified as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
Homelessness Week is an opportunity to look beyond the numbers and recognise the people, stories and communities behind them.
Join the City of Adelaide and The Salvation Army for the launch of New Journey, an exhibition featuring artwork created by participants in the Kurlana Padnipadninya program.
Named after the Kaurna words meaning New Journey, the exhibition explores resilience, healing, belonging, hope and new beginnings. Meet the artists, view their work, and take part in a community conversation about housing, connection and what it means to create a place where everyone belongs.
Thursday 6 August 2026
10:30am – 12:00pm
Minor Works Building Community Centre
22 Stamford Court, Adelaide
The exhibition will remain on display throughout August.
Everyone is welcome.
