Congratulations to all the students participating in The In-Between exhibition ✨
We welcomed an enormous 200 smiling young artists and supporters on the night of the launch event!

Thank you to Thomas Readett for your encouragement of all the artists in your address on the night, it was a treat to have you on board as we delivered this celebration evening.

Congratulations to Miranda E for their winning piece The Little Joys in Life, to runner up Erika G for their piece Spiralling, and to the two highly commended pieces by Hady A.B and Scarlett T.

Sketch live models and develop your life-drawing skills in this four-part workshop.

Starting Saturday 7 November, you'll learn how to draw from life with a live unclad model in the studio with tutor Joe Felber.

With guidance from Joe, these sessions are suitable for beginners, or for experienced artists looking for an opportunity to keep up their skills.

Hanah Williams is teaching a hands-on botanical etching printmaking workshop at Gallery 1855.

Learn how to design and print a hard ground etching plate onto paper. Hard ground is fantastic for fine lines, detailed imagery and intuitive mark making.

This workshop is eco-aware and uses the latest research in safer printmaking processes.

You'll take home your own prints, an etching plate and tool, and skills to keep creating beautiful intricate prints.

The In-Between is open!

Students from Gleeson College, Golden Grove High School, The Heights School, Modbury High School and Pinnacle College share their experience being part of this exhibition.

This exhibition is proudly delivered in partnership with Carclew to provide opportunities for youth in the arts. We'd like to thank Carclew for their support in visiting schools with us to select the artwork, and curate this beautiful exhibition.

Gallery 1855 is open from Friday 18 September to Saturday 24 October. Opening hours are 12pm - 5pm Wednesdays to Saturdays.
Entry is FREE.

Mama Jane is back for a spring photowalk.

Creative photographer Jane Marr aka Mama Jane will take you on a walk of discovery and wellbeing around the Tea Tree Gully heritage precinct and Anstey Hill Recreation Park.

Photowalking is a practice in creativity, mindfulness and gratitude - looking at local places and faces through fresh eyes - discovering the extraordinary in the ordinary.

The session will introduce some simple photographic principles and the benefits of walking for emotional, physical and mental wellbeing. Bring your smartphone or camera and delight in the wonderful world around you.
