If you haven’t yet had the privilege of seeing this fabulous award winning doco by my dear friend Shalom Almond - Filmmaker, produced by my other dear friend Katrina Lucas and featuring the incredible Nancy Bates along with the incredible songbirds that form the phenomenal cast…. Then do yourself a favour and head on down to the Capri this Saturday! It was a sell out hit at the AFF and all proceeds will go towards the film’s own social action initiative to support women in and exiting the prison system. Do yourself a favour, and take ya Kleenex!

Meet Dan Hales.

Our new mental health therapist and class facilitator. Dan has 20 years experience as a social worker. A Masters degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. And two decades of yoga and meditation practice under his belt.

We’ve known Dan long before Human.Kind existed, working side by side in the arts sector (he and Tessa used to perform in leotards together at Womad, Feast Festival, and famously at the roller derby grand final half-time show).

As a therapist, Dan has worked with youth services, LGBTIQA+ folk, refugees, and Aboriginal / First Nations communities. His practice is driven by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and nervous system-oriented mindfulness strategies.

As a writer and performer, Dan has a passion for creative movement practices, and expressive arts-based therapies. His practice is trauma-informed and remains rooted in values of client self-determination, systems theory, and social justice.

You can now catch Dan teaching Yin classes in the city, plus an exciting new class soon to be launched.

He’s available for counselling and psychotherapy sessions Wednesdays and Fridays, covered by Medicare rebates.

It’s an honour to have you on the team with us Dan!
