Today is GiveOUT Day: Australia’s national giving day for LGBTQIA+ causes! Raising funds to channel support to community priorities 🌈

This year celebrates the biggest line-up of registered not-for-profits yet, and the theme "Make your Move" invites everyone to take part in the way that is right for them; Give, Gather or Gush.

We are excited to be giving towards matched funding, and to see so many new groups registered in South Australia this year working towards community wellbeing.

This National Carers Week (11–17 October), we're recognising the incredible contribution of unpaid carers and shining a light on young people whose caring roles can often go unseen.

With this year's theme, 'Care for a Carer: Making Carers Visible', we're revisiting UCWB's research report, Young People First, Carers Second, which shares the voices, experiences and insights of young people who provide care.

Their message remains as important today as when the report was released in 2021: they want to be recognised, treated and supported as young people first, carers second.

Our latest blog explores the findings of this research and why listening to young carers, recognising their individual needs and strengthening collaboration across services and communities remains so important.

Round One of our Carrying Country grants close 5pm this Friday, 25 September.

These grants are designed to support Aboriginal Traditional Owners, Custodians and communities across South Australia to lead initiatives that strengthen culture, care for Country, and invest in future generations.

If you’re thinking about applying and would like to talk through an idea, ask a question or get some help with your application before the round closes, please get in touch.

Applications don’t need to be lengthy or complicated. We’re interested in hearing what you’d like to do, why it’s important to your community and Country, and how it will benefit future generations.

Fay Fuller Foundation Carrying Country Grants are now open!

The Carrying Country Grants are designed to support Aboriginal Traditional Owners, Custodians and communities across South Australia to lead initiatives that strengthen culture, care for Country, and invest in future generations.

These grants recognise that Aboriginal people are best placed to lead the work that matters most for their Country, communities and future generations.

During this year's NAIDOC Week, members of the Fay Fuller team were honoured to join the Umoona community in celebrating 50 years of Umoona Community Council Inc.

It was a special occasion, made even more meaningful by hearing from founding member George, whose reflections on Umoona's early days spoke to the vision, determination and strength of those who laid the foundations for the community we see today. His stories were a powerful reminder that each generation carries forward the legacy of those who came before.

Like the Umoona tree, the community remains deeply rooted in culture, connection and resilience, while continuing to grow and flourish for future generations. The past 50 years stand as a testament to the leadership, perseverance and collective spirit.

We are deeply grateful to the Umoona community for welcoming us to share in this significant milestone. It was a genuine privilege to celebrate alongside community, witness the pride, and listen to the stories that honoured Umoona's journey over the past 50 years.

We wish the community every success as the next chapter continues to grow from such strong roots!

This year's theme, 50 Years of Deadly, is all about celebrating the Elders, organisers, artists and communities who built this movement and the generations of leaders who continue to carry it forward into the future - shining a light on First Nations strength, culture, legacy and voice.

The Fay Fuller team are looking forward to getting along to some of this week's incredible events!

Earlier this year we held the expression of interest (EOI) phase of our Discovery Grants application process for 2026. We are excited to share our breakdown of the themes and insights we noticed across the 76 EOIs we received, including the types of ideas, community groups, sectors and locations that submissions represented.

We know that lasting change does not come from quick fixes. It comes from sustained relationships, shared power and a collective commitment to building the conditions that allow communities to thrive, now and for generations to come.
