Motorists should be mindful when travelling to the 2025 Santos Tour Down Under and parking on road verges, as heated parts can cause about 25 bushfires each year.

When parking along the TDU route, try to find a clear (and safe for other road users!) spot and park away from dense bushland/vegetation and long grasses.

Check all equipment and vehicles are in good working order, clean and free from the build-up of any vegetation, which could catch fire on heated parts of the vehicle.

Spectators are also encouraged to download the free AlertSA app and set up Watch Zones, to ensure they stay informed of any potential hazards – such as bushfires – in the areas.

To learn more about bushfire safety when travelling, visit the CFS website.

If you see suspicious behaviour, contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
