📚❤️ Happy Book Week! ❤️📚

Today on this beautiful, sunny winter day our residents at St Peters were delighted to once again welcome the students from for a colourful Book Week parade through our grounds.

There was plenty of excitement, smiles and laughs as students proudly showcased their costumes, bringing some of their favourite book characters to life. Moments like these remind us of the power of storytelling to connect people of all ages.

Intergenerational experiences such as this are incredibly valuable. They foster understanding, build meaningful relationships and create opportunities for young and older generations to learn from one another. As neighbours, we are grateful to share these special moments and strengthen the bonds within our local community.

A heartfelt thank you to the students and staff of East Adelaide School for bringing so much joy to our residents and for being such wonderful neighbours. We look forward to welcoming you back again next year!

We got some mail from The King! 👑

Our wonderful residents at St Peters sent His Majesty a birthday card… and we were absolutely delighted to receive a letter of thanks from Buckingham Palace in return!

We may not have received a knighthood (yet 😉), but we’re certainly feeling a little bit royal today! 👑✨

A huge well done to our residents for spreading some birthday cheer all the way to the Palace! ❤️

Happy Aged Care Employee Day ❤️

Today, we celebrate the extraordinary people who make aged care more than a service. You make it a community, a home, and a place where older people can continue to live well.

We are incredibly proud to share that St Basil’s Homes (SA) has been named the Winner of the 2026 Ageing Australia You Are ACE! Award for Organisation Excellence in recognition of our Living Well Model of Care.

Our Living Well Model is a research-informed, co-designed approach that empowers residents to continue living well, their way, by fostering independence, meaningful relationships, personal choice and a genuine sense of belonging. Developed with residents, families, staff and research partners, it reimagines aged care by placing people, not tasks, at the centre of everyday life.

This achievement belongs to every member of our team and the residents, families, volunteers and partners who support our mission every day.

Thank you for the care, compassion and dedication you bring to our communities.

Today we celebrate one of our much-loved volunteers who turns 92 today! ❤️

Linda’s kindness, generosity and dedication have touched the lives of so many across our St Basil’s Homes (SA) community and Plateia program. Through her volunteer work, she continues to make a meaningful difference, bringing warmth, friendship and a smile to everyone she meets.

Linda, thank you for the time, care and enthusiasm you so generously share with our residents, families and staff. You are a wonderful example that age is no barrier to making a positive impact on the lives of others.

We're thrilled to share that St Basil’s Homes (SA) has been named a finalist in the Excellence category of the Ageing Australia 2026 You are ACE! Awards for our Living Well Model of Care. The award recognises innovation, measurable outcomes, scalability and a commitment to fostering a culture of innovation within aged care.

A huge congratulations to our fellow finalists, Harbison (NSW) and Home Care Assistance (NSW).

Most importantly, thank you to our residents, families, staff and partners whose passion and commitment continue to bring the Living Well Model to life every day.

Today St Basil's Homes (SA) was honoured to welcome Dr Nicholas Ioannides, Cyprus' Deputy Minister for Migration and International Protection, together with Mrs Eleni Gerasoudi Anomitri, His Excellency Antonis Sammoutis, Cyprus High Commissioner to Australia, and Professor Andreas Evdokiou, President of the Federation of Cyprus Communities of Australia and New Zealand, to our St Peters home.

A highlight of the visit was the opportunity for the delegation to meet with three of our Cypriot residents. The laughter, stories and shared memories were truly infectious.

We were proud to showcase our Living Well Model, which empowers residents to live with purpose, connection, dignity and choice, ensuring every day is meaningful and lived their way.

Thank you to our guests for taking the time to visit and celebrate the cultural connections that continue to strengthen our community ❤️

We’re inviting families and loved ones of St Basil's Homes (SA) to join a relaxed, supportive session focused on staying connected and visiting your loved one with confidence.

This isn’t a clinical session. It’s simply a space to:

❤️ feel more confident in your visits
❤️ better understand what may be happening
❤️ find ways to stay connected in meaningful moments

We know visiting can sometimes feel uncertain and that’s completely okay. You’re not alone, and we’re here to support you.

Your time, your presence, your relationship, it all matters.
