We are very excited to be delivering a series of interactive workshops at the 2026 Lions MD Convention this weekend! 🦁

Attendees will have the opportunity to experience firsthand the training, skill, and care involved in preparing Assistance Dogs for life-changing work in the community.

🐾 Trainee Dog Obstacle Course 🐾

Step into the role of a handler and guide a trainee Assistance Dog through a specially designed obstacle course. With support from our trainers, experience how dogs develop confidence, focus, and environmental awareness - essential skills for working in the community.

🦁 Dog Handling Session for Leos 🦁

An interactive, hands-on session designed for Leos to learn basic dog handling skills under the guidance of professional trainers. Participants will gain insight into communication, training cues, and the responsibility involved in working with Assistance Dogs.

👃 Scent Training Demonstration 👃

See firsthand how Medical Assistance Dogs are trained using scent detection. This interactive session demonstrates how Diabetic Alert Dogs are taught to recognise and respond to scent changes - and the life-changing impact this has for people living with diabetes.

Take part in a real puppy training session with dogs in our foster care program. Learn how early training builds strong foundations for future Assistance Dogs, and discover the vital role of volunteer puppy carers.
