33 players played FAB doubles at the South Terrace Piste today, 18th October.
John N and Valmai defeated Craig and Erica in the final 13-8. Congratulations to the finalists.

Next Sunday, 25th October, the Christos Cup triples competition will be played at the Rundle Road Piste. Lunch will be served after the 3 pool games. Please bring your own glass, cutlery, table and chairs. To facilitate the organisation of the draw, please register by 10am to ensure a prompt start at 10.30.

Ken & Dave W def Terry & Vivien 9-8
3rd: John H & Craig - 3 wins +13

It was a great show of perseverance by Ken and Dave W who won their first two pool games by 1 point, then had to survive a play off for 2nd spot against John H and Craig, before holding on to win the final by 1 point.

FAB RETURNS TO RUNDLE PARK ON SUNDAY 4th OCTOBER

Great news! The City of Adelaide’s Coordinator of Recreation & Sport Programs, Community Lifestyle has indicated to President Anders that FAB is clear to use the Rundle Park piste on Sunday 4th October 2026.

A few reminders:
• Please register and pay your match fees by 10:15 AM in order to have games starting promptly at 10:30 AM.
If you are running late and cannot make it by 10:15 AM, please contact Lynne (0409 098 429) or Terry (0412 844 408) or Anders (0432 787 041).
• The competition on Sunday 4th October will be RANDOM DOUBLES.
• Daylight Saving Time starts on Sunday, October 4th .

The 2026 Cheesefest will be using our piste and surrounding area from October 12th to 23rd so FAB will relocate to the South Terrace piste on Sunday 18th October.

There were 29 players for FAB doubles, with 1 triples team, at South Terrace piste today, 27 September.
Only 2 teams won all 3 games with Erica, Craig and Pamela D defeating Margie and Pauline in the final 13-10.
3rd Charlie and Dave W with + 11.

With site works at Rundle Road nearing completion, the venue for next weeks random doubles competition with be confirmed by email later in the week.

LA COUPE DE TREBES (69 joueurs)

FAB held its 18th ‘La Coupe de Trebes’ at the Club de Petanque d’Adelaide yesterday, 20th October.

In 2008 a group of FAB members arranged to play petanque in the small town of Trebes in southern France. Others have since visited the club and the gift of a perpetual trophy has allowed the competition to continue in recognition of that friendship.

The competition comprises two draws of triples teams: Les Hommes et Les Femmes. Each team plays 3 games in a random draw with the winner of each playing in the final.

In the women’s draw 2 teams won all 3 games.
1st Selina, Ha and Haujung with +28
2nd Anne H, Carol and Susan K with +20

In the men’s draw 4 teams won all 3 games.
1st Ned, Van and Nathan with + 24
2nd Craig S, Dom and Rob with +18
3rd Axel, Bill and Ken with +17
4th Paul, Alain and Wayne with +9

The final between Selina, Ha and Haujung (Les Femmes) and Ned, Van and Nathan (Les Hommes) was a thrilling display of Petanque as well as of great camaraderie and fun. In the end Les Hommes defeated Les Femmes 13-9

What a great day it was! The weather was perfect and as always Rada and the team from Club de Petanque d’Adelaide supplied a tasty lunch and great hospitality.

Thanks to Terry for organising the draw and to everyone for making the day such a success!

Reminder that next week’s doubles competition will be held at South Terrace piste while ground works still continue at the Rundle Road piste.

The FAB Spring Cup Triples competition was held on 6th September with 16 teams.

At the end of the three pool games Pamela D, Jan Asp and Penny were well ahead on +25 but in the final they lost to Anders, Valmai and Ilario 13-0.

Dave W, Erica and John H were 3rd with +12.

There were 41 players for FAB doubles, with 1 triples team, at the South Terrace piste today., 30th August.

We admired the new tree that Lance and other members had planted near the edge of the piste, aptly named the FAB tree.

3 players won all 3 games.
Charlie and Dave W defeated Valmai and Ilario 12-11 in an exciting, closely fought, timed out final.
Ashley and John N were 3rd with +9.

Reminder that the Spring Cup with triples teams will be held next week on 6th September.
