This Homelessness Week, we're recognising one of the people who help make The Foundry a place of connection, creativity and belonging for young people.

Every Friday, Justine volunteers with our Art Group, helping create a welcoming space where young people can connect, express themselves and build confidence through creativity.

"I enjoy facilitating creative arts activities that young people like doing. I love creating a safe and welcoming space where they can feel heard."

Whether it's weaving, beading, painting or trying something new, art is an opportunity to build confidence, discover new skills and connect with others in a supportive environment.

"The best part is seeing young people express themselves through art and watching them realise they have strengths and creativity they might not have recognised."

Thank you, Justine, for the kindness, creativity and encouragement you bring to The Foundry every week.

Our free Friday Art Group is open to all young people aged 15–25.

Fridays | 10.00 am – 1.00 pm
Whether you're looking to get creative, meet new people or simply spend time in a welcoming space, we'd love to see you there!

Did you know it is Homelessness Week?

At The Foundry, we see the strength, resilience and potential of young people every day. We also know that homelessness isn't always visible, and that the right support at the right time can make all the difference.

Whether it's a hot meal, a shower, somewhere to do the laundry, a conversation or support to navigate what's next, The Foundry is here.

Throughout Homelessness Week, we'll be sharing more about our space, our team and the young people at the heart of everything we do.

Join us next week at The Foundry for a free Census Information Session with the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) to learn what the Census is, why it matters and how to complete it.

Whether you're couch surfing, sleeping rough or living in crisis accommodation, this session will provide practical guidance on completing your Census form, where to get support and why every person's story counts.

When: Tuesday, 4 August 1pm–2pm
Where: The Foundry, 42–46 Carrington Street, Adelaide

A huge thank you to the Lions Club of Australian Hearing Dogs for their ongoing support of young people accessing The Foundry by SYC.

Over the past two years, the club has generously donated essential items, including food, toiletries, and blankets, helping The Foundry provide practical support to young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

This winter, Lions Club members came together to deliver their largest donation drive for The Foundry yet, providing much-needed essentials to support young people during the colder months.

Thank you for your generosity and commitment to supporting young people in our community.

Meet Keira, a young artist taking part in our SALA exhibition this year, Our Voice, Our Way.

Keira is a proud First Nations woman with family ties to the Adnyamathanha people of the Flinders Ranges. She has been creating art for four years, working with acrylic paints, digital, raffia and emu feathers.

Her talent has been recognised through multiple school and community art awards, including being named the 2024 Young Indigenous Entrepreneur of the Year with Young Change Agents.

For Keira, art is a way to start conversations and share First Nations culture. It helps her stay connected to her identity and express who she is.

Keira lives independently at HYPA Housing, one of SYC’s housing programs. She has recently graduated from high school, secured work and is now saving for a car and working towards getting her P’s.

This is Keira’s first year participating in SALA and she is excited to share her culture and her art with SYC and the wider community.
