Closing date is approaching … buy some tickets and help us fund a few more wheelchairs!

The People First community lottery is back! Please support us in our last year by buying some $2 tickets - the total amount of ticket sales comes to us. Last time we raised enough to fund four additional wheelchairs.

We have funded four more wheelchairs in South Africa, taking our total to 175. The recipients are Cheryl, Maria, Solomon and Lillian.
Solomon's grandchildren sent us this message:
"Thank you very much for helping our grandfather with getting mobile, his Parkinson's and chronic arthritis have been getting worse by the day, his frustration at not being able to get around and be mobile like he used to has been affecting his mental health. From my grandfather and all of us his family ..... Thank you very very very very much."

Thanks to everyone who posted us their tags during July and August. We received this haul as a result - 135kg in total.

We are now no longer accepting bread tags - a huge thank you to everyone who has helped collect more than 18 tonnes of tags over the last eight years!
But this is not quite the end .... we will be continuing to send our stock of tags for recycling and to provide wheelchairs with our remaining funds, so keep following us for those updates.
If you want to continue recycling your plastic bread tags, these are some options we are aware of - please contact them directly for more info:

- Banish : https://banish.com.au/pages/recycling-program (they are also selling remaining stocks of the bread tag products);
- Aussie Bread Tags Western Australia.

Final two weeks to post your plastic tags to us at P.O. Box 1164, Kensington Gardens, SA 5068. Please get them in the post by 31 August.
We are receiving large quantities at the moment. Our dedicated post lady, Maureen, collects and opens all the parcels from the post office. She then removes all the cardboard tags and bags the plastic ones up. Fortunately Maureen lives next door to Bread Tag HQ (Jenny's place), so we have an easy way of bringing them home!

We get a lot of questions about what our recyclers are up to now - this explains it all.
They are also accepting bread tags (just from us) as we wind up, so we can get through the mountain of tags you have been sending in before we close!

We are no longer accepting bread tags at our collection points (see previous post), but our friends at Lids4Kids Australia have let us know they will be continuing to accept plastic bread tags for recycling, so if you'd like to keep collecting, read on .......
