Meet the team at Elton Group, who will be joining us as an exhibitor at THRIVE 2026.

Established in Melbourne in the 1930s, Elton Group has worked closely with Australia’s architecture and design industry for generations, supplying innovative timber, acoustic and decorative surface solutions across commercial, hospitality, education and residential projects.

Known for their strong design focus and commitment to material quality, Elton Group collaborates with architects, designers and specifiers to help deliver spaces that are thoughtful, functional and enduring.

Their work continues to explore the relationship between materiality, performance, sustainability and occupant experience — making them a natural fit for the conversations taking place at THRIVE.

We’re very pleased to have Elton Group exhibiting at this year’s event.

Applications are now open for the 2026 Passivhaus Incubator.

This 8-week, fully-funded leadership program is designed for the people who shape better building outcomes before design begins — policy makers, asset owners, client-side teams and built environment decision makers.

Across the program, you'll build the knowledge, language and strategic lens needed to bring Passivhaus thinking into organisations, projects and portfolios.

You’ll learn how to lead more informed conversations around building performance, understand the risks that sit between code-compliant and high-performance buildings, and ask better questions across procurement, contracts, cost planning, certification and project delivery.

The program also explores how Passivhaus principles can apply to existing assets including retrofit pathways, staged upgrades, stakeholder impact and long-term portfolio planning.

By the end of the Incubator, you'll leave with a clearer view of what better building performance looks like, how to advocate for it internally, and how to move new ideas from conversation into practical implementation.

Applications for 2026 are now open.

Shibori House is a deep retrofit of a typical inner city terrace; solid masonry walls, timber floors and roofs. It is currently on track to meet the EnerPHit standard.

The single level terrace is being transformed into a two level Japanese inspired oasis for its next 100 years of life. An atypical floor plan introduces a central courtyard around which the house orientates with a split level rear to tuck the home down into its site and connect the living space to both courtyard and rear yard.

You will have the opportunity to see the project mid-flow. The slab is down, the timber framing likely to be complete and wrapped and the original roof reconstructed, lined with woodfibre and wrapped. Weather permitting the project should be close to approaching its first blower door test.

The original masonry has been repaired, original floors replaced to allow for airtighting (and making level). New windows are en route with a tilt turn timber window to the street and slimline thermally broken windows and doors elsewhere.

The ventilation strategy includes an inline dehumidifier, increasingly necessary in the Sydney summers and even more so in small homes.

Missed Jesse Clarke's presentation at our sold out Melbourne RetroPHit Insights Evening?

Then you've got an opportunity to join us for round two in Sydney where Jesse and pro clima will be hosting our next RetroPHit Insights Evening.

Jesse will again be tackling one of the most critical and underestimated risks in retrofit — moisture — and how to manage it from the very first design decision.

And he'll be doing so alongside other expert Passivhaus practioners like:

Linden Thorley who'll open the evening with an introduction to the retrofit opportunity and the role of high-performance design in Australia's residential built environment.

Andy Marlow who'll walk through a Sydney retrofit project — covering design decisions, performance targets, challenges on site and the outcomes delivered for the occupants.

Alexander Symes who'll share three retrofit projects in detail, demonstrating what is achievable across a range of budgets, building types and climates.

And much more.

Join us for an exclusive site tour of 'Roslyn' Cramer St — a thoughtful retrofit and extension of a 1930s Californian Bungalow in Preston, designed by Brave New Eco and delivered by Alwyn Projects.

Currently at pre-plaster stage, this project offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the hidden layers of a high-performance renovation, including insulation, airtightness detailing, double glazing, ventilation systems, and moisture management strategies before they are concealed.

Rather than replacing the existing home, the project carefully upgrades and extends the original structure to create a healthier, quieter, and more comfortable forever home while preserving its heritage charm and character.
