Join us for a webinar exploring Argo Retrofit, an EnerPHit transformation of a late-19th-century double-brick terrace in South Yarra.

Presented by Elena Cazacu of , this session will unpack how the project balances heritage preservation, airtightness, thermal continuity, solar access, spatial efficiency and a contemporary SIPs-based addition on a constrained inner-city site.

The webinar will also share practical lessons from the retrofit process, including demolition, latent site conditions, airtightness testing and on-site coordination.

This Passivhaus Plus in Sunderland Bay shows how a coastal house can be bright, durable and comfortable.

Triple-glazed windows flood the interiors with light while a finely detailed timber-frame envelope delivers very low heating and cooling demand in a cool temperate climate.

Combined with a rooftop PV array and battery storage, the Zephyr Project is designed to handle salt-laden air and strong winds while keeping energy use and running costs remarkably low, a coastal home that’s built to perform and last.

Pecha Kucha is back on September 11, bringing together the local Passivhaus communities in WA, TAS, NSW and VIC for fast-paced presentations, fresh ideas and shared learning.

Each presentation follows the classic Pecha Kucha format: 20 slides, shown for 20 seconds each, for a total presentation time of around 6–7 minutes.

We’re now inviting APA members to submit an abstract for consideration. Your presentation could showcase a recent project, share an update on Passivhaus activity in your community, unpack a lesson learned, or introduce an emerging innovation, idea or approach.

This is an opportunity to share what you have been working on, contribute to the wider Passivhaus conversation and connect with like-minded professionals in your state.

This seven-week course gives builders, trades and construction professionals the practical knowledge to deliver high-performance buildings with confidence.

Work through self-paced content on airtightness, moisture management and thermal bridge-free construction to insulation, window installation, ventilation and quality assurance. All while deepen your understanding through seven live Q&A sessions with experienced Australian trainers.

You’ll also receive 12 months of course access and preparation for the Certified Passivhaus Tradesperson exam.

Upon completion, builders and engineers may be eligible for up to 12 CPD points, while architects may be eligible for up to 6 CPD points.

Earlier, we shared the first step in our partnership with First Question Society — helping two emerging professionals attend THRIVE 2026 through the Jeff Robinson Emerging Leader Program.

Now, we’re proud to share the second.

Through the Jeff Robinson Passivhaus Scholarship Award, Luca Brown, Winnie Chiu, Gokul Annil Nisha and Kaylee Hussain will receive support to build their Passivhaus knowledge and take the next step in their professional development.

Congratulations to Luke Garlinge, Director at First Light Projects, on becoming a Certified Passivhaus Tradesperson!

After completing the training and passing the certification exam, Luke now has another well-earned certification to add to his experience — and plenty of new building science knowledge to bring to his future projects.

Built to the Passivhaus Classic Standard, it achieves an exceptional airtightness of 0.2 ACH, incorporates carefully detailed thermal breaks, and allows for upgraded HEPA filtration when needed.
