South Australian Flotilla 1 (SAF1) is a flotilla within the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard and is located at North Haven in Adelaide, South Australia. We are a marine search and rescue organisation, and our primary function is to prevent the loss of life at sea. We are a dedicated team of volunteers from all walks of life that work together to protect life and property and promote safety at sea.

We also provide marine radio monitoring from our headquarters and offer training courses to the general public in basic seamanship and marine radio operations.

Today, we pause.

We pause to remember the brave men and women of our marine rescue community who are no longer with us — those who answered the call without hesitation, who gave their time, their skills, and in some cases, everything they had.

They stood for service, for safety, and for something bigger than themselves. They were the quiet strength behind countless missions, the steady voice on the radio, the helping hand when it mattered most.

Behind every uniform was a person — a teammate, a mentor, a friend, a family member — and their absence is felt deeply across our entire community.

Today is not just about remembrance, but about honour. Honour in continuing what they stood for. Honour in looking after each other. Honour in carrying forward the values they lived every day on the water.

To our fallen members — we see you, we remember you, and we thank you.
