📊 SSAA Activity Log – The Numbers Keep Growing!

SSAA members continue to record their hunting and wildlife management activities through the SSAA Activity Log, and the numbers are building into a great picture of the contribution our members make across Australia.

As of 31 August 2026, members have logged:

🎯 663 activities
👥 149 individual members contributing
⏱️ 8,769+ hours in the field
🚙 119,417 km travelled
💰 $63,900+ spent in local communities
🐾 11,652 animals harvested

Activities have now been recorded across Farmer Assist, private property, public land hunting and conservation wildlife management.

🌾 Farmer Assist alone accounts for 88 logged activities, involving 45 members and contributing:

• 1,293 hours in the field
• 22,087 km travelled
• $10,568 in local spending
• 3,786 pest and game animals harvested

Every activity recorded helps us build stronger evidence of the time, effort and money SSAA members contribute to landholders, regional communities, pest management and conservation.

Whether it’s a quick local outing or several days in the field — it all counts.

We've had several people ask where they can complete this nationally recognised training, so if you're looking to take your skills to the next level, these courses are well worth considering.

📢 The new Resume/Bio feature is already making a difference!

One of our Farmer Assist landholders recently commented on how valuable the new Resume/Bio feature has been when reviewing volunteer applications.

"It's great. You can really get a good idea of the motivations, skills and experience of the volunteers."

That was exactly our goal.

The Resume/Bio allows members to tell landholders a little more about themselves. Not just their hunting experience, but also their reliability, availability, training, equipment, commitment to safety and why they'd make a good volunteer.

For landholders, it provides greater confidence when selecting who they invite onto their property.

For members, it creates a fairer and more transparent process, allowing everyone to showcase their experience and strengths rather than simply being another name on a list.

If you're a Farmer Assist member and haven't completed your Resume/Bio yet, now is the perfect time. It only takes a few minutes and could make all the difference when a landholder is deciding who to select.

📊 SSAA Activity Log Update – The Numbers Keep Growing!

Our members continue to demonstrate the enormous contribution that recreational hunters make to conservation, pest animal control, and regional communities.

So far, the Activity Log has recorded:

✅ 443 hunting and pest management activities
✅ 117 members contributing data
✅ 6,698.5 volunteer hours in the field
✅ 89,924 km travelled across Australia
✅ 8,567 pest animals harvested

Top species recorded:
🐇 Rabbits – 3,554
🦘 Kangaroos – 2,160
🐖 Feral Pigs – 1,203
🦊 Foxes – 522
🐐 Goats – 433
🦘 Wallabies – 254
🦌 Deer – 152

Every activity you record helps demonstrate the real value that hunters provide. This information strengthens advocacy, supports research, helps inform government decision-making and showcases the significant volunteer effort our members contribute to protecting agriculture and the environment.

If you're not already logging your hunting activities, now is the time to start. Whether you're volunteering through Farmer Assist, participating in a branch pest control program or simply hunting on private or public land, every log helps build the bigger picture.

📢 New Feature for Farmer Assist Members – Adding a Resume/Bio to Your Profile

We've introduced an updated Resume/Bio feature to help members put their best foot forward when applying for Farmer Assist jobs.

Before applying for a job, members must now complete a Resume/Bio profile. Don't worry—it only needs to be created once and can be updated at any time as your experience, qualifications and equipment change.

Why have we introduced it?

✅ Gives landholders more information when reviewing applicants
✅ Allows members to showcase their experience, skills and availability
✅ Provides an opportunity to explain why a landholder should choose you
✅ Supports fair and informed decision-making by landholders
✅ Creates a more level playing field for all members applying for jobs

Landholders are often looking for more than just shooting experience. Reliability, communication, safety and respect for property can be just as important when deciding who to invite onto a farm.

To help members get started, we have also provided guidance and example content within the Resume/Bio section. This includes suggestions on the type of information landholders are interested in seeing, as well as tips on how to create a profile that highlights both your experience and suitability as a volunteer.

A well-written Resume/Bio helps landholders get to know you before making a decision and can improve your chances of being selected.

📢 Farmer Assist Update – New Accreditation Pathway Recognised

We're pleased to announce that Farmer Assist now recognises the nationally accredited unit AHCPMG304 – Use Fi****ms to Humanely Destroy Animals as an approved pathway for participation in the program.

This means that members who have successfully completed AHCPMG304 through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) can now use this qualification to meet the Farmer Assist competency requirements without needing to complete the Farmer Assist assessment target pathway.

✅ Recognised national competency
✅ Demonstrates practical and humane animal destruction skills
✅ No additional Farmer Assist target assessment required
✅ Simply upload your Statement of Attainment to your Farmer Assist profile

This change aligns Farmer Assist with nationally recognised training standards while maintaining the high levels of safety, marksmanship, animal welfare and professionalism expected of our volunteers.

If you have already completed AHCPMG304, sign up and upload your Statement of Attainment to join the team.
