UN Youth SA UN Youth South Australia is a not-for-profit organisation run by dedicated volunteers under 25. UN Youth Australia - "Opening young eyes to the world."

It is ever important for the youth of today to have our voice heard in the rapidly integrated and globalised world. UN Youth is run for and by young people, and has been broadening youth horizons for almost 50 years. UN Youth South Australia is the state-wide division of the national youth-oriented organisation, UN Youth Australia. We endeavour to expand knowledge of human rights, global politics

and the United to increase awareness and participation in international issues. We run popular educational events for students throughout the year, including SA Conference, the Evatt Competition and the Voice Competition. We also run day summits and workshops. To stay in the loop:

Student Ambassadors Program!

UN Youth SA’s student ambassadors are given the opportunity to promote UN Youth events within their schools through workshops and social activities with the Youth Engagement Director.

Ambassadors also get access to event registration early, discounts for all state competitions & events, and the chance to contribute 10 SACE credits to their learning, along with the Global Citizenship Award.

South Australia Evatt Competition is now open for registrations!

Requiring no prior debating experience, Evatt immerses young people in years 9 to 12 to uncover the driving forces of influence that threaten to destabilise world order all while mastering the art of public speaking through negotiation. Going beyond ordinary debating, Evatt challenges delegates to think critically, problem solve carefully, and search for answers in the rapidly changing world of current affairs surrounding them.

SACON Guest Speaker Reveal 🫣

Dr Andew Nance is an electrical engineer with a PhD in Energy Policy that has recently joined the South Australian Government’s Department for Energy and Mining as Director of the Energy Forecasting and Planning team. The team’s primary role is to forecast likely electricity demand and to plan for the generation and storage required to meet this demand at all times of the year. Dr Nance has a long history with SA’s energy transition that includes roles with the South Australian Council of Social Service and the Conservation Council of SA, bringing this experience to Government’s response to the energy trilemma of affordability, sustainability and reliability.
