Northern Flowers is moving ahead. We are working with 3 councils to work with community members to make flowers and then display them leading up to and during the 16 Days of Activism. We are encouraging people to show they care about those affected by Domestic Violence.

Have you heard people say: “I don’t see colour”?

That may sound “fair” but it’s not. Ignoring race doesn’t eliminate racism, it hides it.

When we pretend not to see race, we overlook the real experiences of people who face racism, and how we might be contributing to systems that keep it going.

To change the systems, laws, and practices that support racism, we need to understand how racism affects negatively racialised communities and listen to their experiences, not ignore them.
