🖤💛❤️ We were proud to recently host the NDSS National Gathering, welcoming teams from across Australia to connect, collaborate, and learn from one another.

The National Gathering plays an important role in supporting national coordination, shared learning, and continuous quality improvement in culturally safe diabetes education, prevention, and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Bringing together passionate professionals from across the country creates valuable opportunities to share knowledge, strengthen relationships, and work towards better outcomes for communities.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such a meaningful few days.

Connecting conversations ❤️
Recently, we were proud to welcome a group of our members to our Diabetes SA office for a conversation about their experiences, challenges, and the support that makes a difference.

Advocacy in action ❤️

Yesterday, Diabetes SA CEO Catherine Hughes and member Sandy met with Minister for Health and Wellbeing Blair Boyer MP to talk about the importance of diabetes prevention, education, and support services across SA.

Sandy also shared her powerful story of receiving lifesaving advice from Diabetes SA after calling with heart attack symptoms—support that encouraged her to seek urgent hospital care.

Every conversation matters when it comes to improving health outcomes for South Australians living with diabetes đź’™

Thank you to Minister Boyer for your time and commitment to community health.

Today, on National Sorry Day, we honour the strength, truth and lived experience of Stolen Generations survivors and their families. 🖤💛❤️

National Sorry Day is an important reminder for all Australians to acknowledge the truth of how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children were forcibly removed from their families, communities and Country, and the enduring intergenerational impacts that continue today.
Listening to and acknowledging the full history of the Stolen Generations is essential to building understanding, respect and lasting change and turning sorry into action.

At Diabetes SA, we are committed to listening to and standing alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, who continue to experience disproportionately high rates of diabetes and related health impacts.

We remain committed to learning from and working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to support culturally safe and community-informed approaches, helping create healthier futures and more equitable outcomes for all.
