The Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia Incorporated (GOCSA) is an established multi-purpose centrally located organisation, a focal point in this state for people of Greek background. Established in October 1930, the GOCSA is the largest and most active ethno-specific organisation in South Australia and one of the oldest. The GOCSA is an non-profit organisation that serves the many and va
ried needs of the Greek Australian Community. As an organization we have broadened our philanthropic goals and also collaborate with people who share similar visions. The Greek Community of South Australia has been a vibrant and active community organization for many years. The Community provides many programs and services to its members and the community at large. Over time the GOCSA apart from having churches has developed programs and services such as, Greek language schools, cultural and educational programs, community services, Community Aged Care Packages, Limani Dementia Respite Program and operates the Ridleyton Greek Home for the Aged. Our Community has also played a role in shaping a more multicultural and democratic Australian society. It successfully participated in a community wide campaign to open the Sturt Street Community School in Adelaide's South West. Its strength and vitality stem from its broad based community aims and activities, its willingness to respond to and serve social needs and from its democratic character and autonomy.
