Join us this Friday at the Nuriootpa Library as we chat about fire safety and getting ready for summer.

For young people with disability aged 18-30

We'll talk about what to expect during the warmer months, how to keep yourself safe during hot weather and bushfire season, and where to find reliable, up-to-date information when you need it.

There'll be plenty of opportunities to ask questions, share what you already know and chat with others about staying safe this summer, all in a relaxed and welcoming space.

This month it is important to take time for your own mental health, and practice self care. It is also important to check in on those you care about!

International Day of Sign Languages is a day to support and protect language identity and cultural diversity of all Deaf people and other sign language users.
Today is an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of Sign Languages, and recognise the barriers that still exist for Deaf people, and all people who use sign languages!

✨We will talk about why an issue is important to you. You do not need to share anything during the session if you don't want to, & we ask stories shared are kept appropriate and mindful of others.
✨You may think about things you talk about at work, school, with your family or friends. It might be something like:

- NDIS
- Leadership opportunities for young people

Today is the 60th anniversary of International Literacy Day!
The theme is "Literacy for people, the planet and prosperity".
This theme provides an opportunity to deepen understanding of persistent and emerging challenges, and shape future literacy agendas in a rapidly changing world.
Access to education is a fundamental human right, everyone deserves equal opportunity to an accessible education!

Stories come in all shapes and sizes. They can be about a memory, a lived experience, a moment you're proud of, or a challenge you've faced. Whether you enjoy writing, drawing, chatting or simply listening, there's no right or wrong way to take part. We'll have plenty of creative prompts and story starters to help you get started, along with light snacks and the opportunity to connect with other young people with disability in a welcoming and supportive environment.

What's the program about?
You're likely already leading in ways that don't always get called leadership. But they are. This program is about naming that, building on it, and going deeper, with people who get it.
Is this for you?
✔ You're aged 18–25
✔ You identify as neurodivergent — self-diagnosis is valid here
✔ You identify as LGBTQIA+SB — all diverse gender expressions invited
* No NDIS plan or formal diagnosis needed
