Our letter to AHPRA was signed by 3000 health workers, all deeply concerned by the implications of adopting the IHRA definition of antisemitism as a regulatory tool. We are yet to receive a response. Today we sent a follow up letter emphasising the dire implications of the decision to use IHRA. For example in recent days we have heard the news that paediatrician, Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, is in a critical condition and may die in Israel‘s prisons. Doctors who advocate for his release (and for similar cases) are at risk of disciplinary proceedings under the IHRA regulatory framework. At the same time, the British Medical Association has revoked the use of the IHRA definition, citing a chilling effect on legitimate political speech by healthworkers. AHPRA must reverse its decision to adopt the IHRA definition of antisemitism. We look forward to productive discussions with the regulator. ̇ya ̇ne
