OzHarvestSA Rescuing food to feed those in need.

10/06/2026

Louise* has been coming to the OzHarvest Market for years, not just for herself, but for the people in her community who have no one else. Elderly people living with dementia, without family nearby to help. She shows up for them, helping make sure they have meals they couldn't otherwise afford.

She has watched the queues grow. She has watched the faces change. .

"It's not the cost of living," she says. "It's the cost of survival. For everybody."

From now until Giving Day, Thursday 18 June, every dollar you donate is matched, doubling your impact for Australians doing it tough.

People who were previously keeping their heads above water are now coming through our doors for the first time. People who were donating to causes like ours are now the ones asking for help.

The charities we support and people accessing food relief cannot be clearer: It’s not the cost of living anymore. It’s the cost of surviving.

But it’s not just people who are struggling. For the first time in our history, more charities are on the waitlist to receive food than the ones we currently support.

Swipe to hear from the voices of people we support.

From now until Giving Day, Thursday 18 June, every dollar you donate is matched, helping us feed more people in need.

John* relies on food relief because there is nothing left in his pantry.

“I ran out of food. I’m a pensioner and I’m limited by my means,” John says. “The hunger is there and when you’re on medication and not eating, it’s a bad idea.”

Food relief can be the difference between staying well and falling between the cracks. For John – and people like him – food relief is often a lifeline.

From now until Giving Day, Thursday 18 June, every dollar you donate is matched, creating lifelines for people in need.

Emily’s* mum is the only consistent earner in their household. Both her and her dad have diagnosed mental health conditions. Their budget is incredibly tight, and food is one of the first things to go.

When they found their way to OzHarvest, our help delivered hope.

"It makes me feel good," she told us. "It helps me socialise and get out of the house."

Food is the foundation. When people have it, everything else becomes possible. From now until Giving Day, Thursday 18 June, every dollar you donate is matched, helping to create hope for people in need.

Having a job used to mean having enough. For a growing number of Australians, that is no longer true.

31% of the people seeking food relief from the charities we support are employed and still finding there is nothing left after rent and bills. Food is the only flexible item in a budget that has no room to move.

Swipe to hear from working families doing it tough.

From now until Giving Day, Thursday 18 June, every dollar you donate is matched, so we can help feed more families in need.

✨ What a night. What a community. What an impact. ✨

Last Thursday, our Plates With Purpose dinner at the icon Adelaide Oval l as part of Tasting Australia was nothing short of extraordinary — and we are still soaking it all in.

From the incredible atmosphere in the room, to the generosity shown throughout the evening, the support for OzHarvest SA was truly overwhelming. 💛

To every guest who attended, purchased raffle tickets, bid in our auction, shared the evening with us, or simply showed up in support of our mission — thank you. Your kindness and belief in what we do means more than words can say.

A heartfelt thank you to our friends at AdelaideOval and CEO Nick Addison for your incredible support, generosity, and partnership in bringing this special evening to life. 🏟️

To our OzHarvest team, Adelaide Oval staff, external event partners, speakers, emcee, musicians, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters — this event was made possible because of the passion, energy, and care each of you brought to the table. 🙏

And to our founder and visionary-in-residence, Ronni Kahn — thank you for inspiring every person in the room with your passion, humility, and unwavering commitment to nourishing our communities and reducing food waste. 💛

This event was an incredible success, and the support shown for our mission was deeply felt.

This is what community looks like. This is what purpose tastes like.

Matthew* lost his job. Like a lot of people, he didn't see it coming. And like a lot of people, asking for help was the hardest thing he had ever done.

"At first I was embarrassed," he says. "Not sure what I can ask for, didn't want to ask for too much."

Matthew is now a familiar face accessing food relief. He has watched the queue for food get longer as budgets are squeezed, and he wants anyone still hesitating at the door to have the confidence to ask for help.

"All kinds of people from all walks of life - just come along."

From now until Giving Day. Thursday 18 June, every dollar you give helps keep those doors open for everyone who needs them. Every dollar matched.

36% of the people who walked through our doors this year had never asked for help before.

Many are families with jobs and mortgages who never thought they would need to ask for help, but the rising cost of living makes things harder each year.

It takes a lot of courage to ask for help, with people battle feelings of shame and guilt. Swipe to hear what it feels like to take that first step and what happens when you do.

From now until Giving Day, Thursday 18 June, every dollar you donate is matched, helping make sure that first step is always met with kindness.
