Adelaide, we’re cooking with stars this year ⭐⭐

Last week, South Australia made history at the first Michelin Guide awards ever held in Australia, and two of our CEO CookOff chefs were in the spotlight.

👨‍🍳 Scott Huggins, Magill Estate Restaurant: Two Michelin Stars. It’s the first restaurant in Australia to earn two stars, and the only two-star venue among the 11 starred on the night. In Scott’s words, it’s “a dream that’s come true.”

🧡 The Ayubi family, Parwana Afghan Kitchen: Bib Gourmand. This award celebrates exceptional food at great value. Since 2009 they’ve fed Adelaide’s western suburbs with a simple recipe: “we cook with love, simple food, lots of love in it.”

Fine dining and family cooking, both recognised on the world stage. We're delighted that they're both supporting us at CEO CookOff Adelaide on November 5th, cooking with local business leaders for people in our community who need it most.

The countdown to CEO CookOff is on, and ADELAIDE is less than four weeks away on November 5th! 🔥

The leaders and chefs joining us in Adelaide have a message for anyone still thinking about stepping into the kitchen:

🔥 "Not everyone in the community is as privileged as I am, so I want to do my bit for those in the community doing it tough."
🔥 "It's not that serious - at the end of the day, it's food."

CEO CookOff is a unique fundraising event where business leaders cook alongside Australia's top chefs, then serve and share that meal with people from the charities OzHarvest supports. Because, as Supermarket Swap founder Nabula El Mourid puts it, "everybody has a right to eat, and a right to eat well."

When charities close for Christmas, where do families go?
While much of the country slows down over the break, the need for food relief doesn't.
Many of the charities we support close over this period, making it even harder for people to access food when they need it most.
That's why our yellow vans will be out delivering as much food as possible before Christmas to over 1,500 charities who are facing a 70% rise in demand.

A huge thank you to our friends at Ford! 💛

The Jarvis team held an internal food drive and dropped off 40kg of pantry staples for our community. Every item will help people doing it tough right here in South Australia. 🥫🍝🥣

Jarvis Ford have been supporters of OzHarvest for many years, and this food drive is one of many ways they show up for us. They provide vehicles that keep our yellow vans on the road, helping us rescue food and deliver it to the charities who need it most, and so much more! 🚐

Heat with Heart = 11,000 meals 💛🔥

A huge shout out and thank you goes to our supporter Newtons Building & Landscape Supplies! For the second year in a row, their Heat with Heart winter campaign donated a portion of firewood sales to OzHarvest SA, and today the team dropped by our warehouse to present a $5,500 cheque!

That's 11,000 meals for our community. We are so grateful to local businesses like Newtons who give from their own profits to support South Australians in need 🙌

A big thank you to our friends at Lendlease!

Last Friday, our Nourish Adelaide students cooked and served lunch for 13 guests from Lendlease, our National Nourish Program Partner.

The team went back to work singing the praises of the hospitality and the food (especially the veggies!).

We are so grateful to have Lendlease by our side. Their support helps young people build real skills, confidence and a pathway into work.

Nourish is our free 18-week hospitality training program for young people aged 16 to 25 who face barriers to education, work and training. Students earn a nationally recognised Certificate II in Cookery and get life skills, job readiness coaching and support to find work or go on to further study.

A Nourish lunch is just one of the many ways OzHarvest partners can get involved and see their impact up close. Thank you again Lendlease, and a huge well done to our students and trainers!
