Lola is a 5 yo Golden Retriever and is a support dog for her young owner who has some medical treatment needs that are ongoing. Poor Lola has had recurrent and persistent diorrhea and her family were unable to afford a vet consult. Lola requires mobile vet services - at home as she is an ex-breeding dog and is absolutely terrified of the car. We were able to support the family with a mobile vet visit this afternoon - and hopefully Lola will soon be back to her normal, happy self. 🐶 💰🐾 🐾👫 🐾👣

I feel strongly that seniors should be able to use their home care package funds to help them care for and maintain their pets and would also like to see aged care facilities allow pets to accompany their owners into care. Please consider signing the petition to support pets and their people. Companion Animal Network Australia is calling for urgent Government support for older pet owners at home!

“Sadly, there is a painful absence of government support for older people with pets in in-home care, resulting in not only putting people's lives in danger but also their much-loved animals being surrendered to shelters across the country!” says Trish Ennis, CEO of CANA.

”We are calling Hon Mark Butler MP, Federal Minister for Health and Aged Care and Hon Anika Wells MP, Federal Minister for Aged Care to help our ageing population maintain a high quality of life and that includes finding ways to help older adults retain their pets.”

We need the public's help to convince the Government to include pet friendly aged care support as part of their aged care reform. Help reach 50,000 signatures by signing and sharing their petition for !

Wayne got in touch with us to see whether we could help with cruciate surgery for his very beloved dog, Lewie who’s a Newfoundland mix. Wayne says: I am writing to ask if you could assist with the cost of surgery that Lewie needs as he has damaged his cruciate ligament and it is going to cost $6000.00 for the surgery. I have two dogs and they both are like kids to me and I would do anything for them. Earlier this year my marriage fell apart and I have been left on my own with my two fur baby boys. We have all been through the emotional wringer this year and I have been hit with a lot of extra expenses being on my own, I would do anything for my boys, I would go without myself to give to them. This expense came out of the blue and I do my best as I am on a disability support pension, they have given me their unconditional love and Lewie deserves to get the treatment he needs. Any help would be greatly appreciated as at the moment I am finding things a bit of a struggle. Kindest regards, Wayne. If you are able to donate to help Wayne and Lewie, it would be greatly appreciated. Donation details here: https://hsedr.org.au/index.php/donate/ Please put Lewie in the reference. 🐶 🐾👣 💰🐾 🐾👫

Jackie has supported our 💰🐾 program for some time and for her forthcoming wedding - has made a donation to the program in lieu of wedding favours for their guests. We provided cards and lapel pins in recognition. Thank you Jackie and Sam - we wish you well on your special day and for your future together 💕💞 🐾👣 💰🐾 🐾👫

Carrie took Ollie to visit Judy in Aged Care and they were very happy to see one another! You may recall that Ollie came full circle - he was Carrie’s family dog first but rehomed to Judy when he and the family’s other dog didn’t get along. When Judy went into care, Carrie and family took Ollie back and still take him to visit Judy. 🐶 🐾👣 💰🐾 🐾👫

Peter sent me a further update on Cosmos the cat: Hi, just an update on Cosmos. We just got back from the vets for a checkup -he is slowly doing better but still has a long way to go. He has stitches in and is on lots of medication. He also still has his cone on so he doesn’t take out he’s stitches or lick in that area. All up the vet said he’s slowly doing better but still needs a few checkups. He’s on special food which he doesn't like - he would rather his Dine (hehe). Going back to the vets next week and just keep praying he gets better. Thank you for caring.
I received a further $275 in donations for Cosmos and have rung the vet and credited this amount to Peter's account.

Hi Chris, Cosmos has had an operation. Hes still not out of the woods but he is home with me now and eating. He has a cone on his head so he doesn’t touch the stitches, He does not like it but I’m helping him eat and drink, The nurse thought it would be much better to bring him home as he was really upset in the hospital. So far he’s doing ok and p*eing a little bit - but that’s ok - I’m taking him back to the vet on Monday for a checkup and to have he’s fentanyl patch removed

Thank you and everyone who helped again so much for everything. I now have my fur baby back home and he’s getting all the love and affection.

Thank you again so much. Peter. 🐶 🐾👣 💰🐾 🐾👫

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated to Peter and his cat, Cosmos. We have raised an amazing $1615 which is enough to cover the gap in the cost of his surgery. I will call the vet clinic and make payment to Peter’s account. Thank you all so very much!

Peter shared the following with me: Cosmos is my baby. I laugh everyday when he’s around. He is my angel and that’s why I am doing everything to help him.

I thank you and everyone else for helping me I’ve never had help like this before in my life it means the world to me. Thank you so much again.

Peter contacted me in desperation. He needs help paying for an operation for his cat, Cosmos. We don’t have the funds currently. Peters message to me is outlined below.

Hello, my name is Peter. I have a cat who is currently in Adelaide animal hospital he has FLUTD feline urinary tract disease it is very bad as he gets blocked up a lot so it’s serious I have paid out so much money now I have nothing left I am on a disability pension and this has bankrupt me he needs an operation called perineal urethrostomy so he can p*e again and do better I can’t afford this operation I am on rspca insurance and they have told me they will pay 60% of the price the problem is I just don’t have any money left as I’ve spent everything on all these procedures he’s already had I paid thru vet pay and got a nils loan all that is left is this operation I hope you can help or let me know where I can get help please I don’t know what else to do he’s name is cosmos and he turns two next month he is my baby my support my everything and I can’t lose him the vet said if I can’t pay then I have to put him down I can’t do that I need him with me.

If you could donate, I know it would mean everything to Peter - he has obviously done everything he can - he has pet insurance, he’s utilised vet pay and taken a NILS loan - he has no other avenues open to him. Insurance will pay 60% of the $4000 needed but Peter still needs to raise $1600.

Link to our donation page here - https://hsedr.org.au/index.php/donate/ - we will ensure every dollar donated goes to Cosmos. Time is of the essence for assistance. 🐶 💰🐾 🐾👫 🐾👣

Sadly - our stories don’t always have happy endings. The vet visited Snowy at home today. He was suffering with kidney failure - and hasn’t eaten in three days. He’s 16 and would have required sedation to attend to his eyes and eye drops for two weeks but will not allow his owner near him to treat him. Even if we could treat his issues and he has many - he would likely need to be given his wings due to kidney failure. Not the news we were hoping for - but after consultation with the Aged Care Provider who looks after his owner - and them talking with his owner about what she wanted to do - she has elected to give the little guy his wings. The vet will return tomorrow to give him this last gift and we’ll cover the cost. Fly high Snowy. 🐶 🐾👣 🐾👫

This is so heartwarming… Fiona took Ollie to visit his Mum again today and says: Ollie’s visit to Judy- very clear he knew where he was going and I needed to walk faster, jumped straight onto her chair( before Judy) and then after surveying his kingdom and having a chat with Judy decided to  relax and snooze  snuggled with mum and even let her share ‘his’ chair😜💙🐾 How supremely happy does Ollie look? 🐶 🐾👫 🐾👣 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 🪹
