A Drop in the Buckett aims to raise awareness about spinal cord injury and funds for equipment and resources that will support the greater Spinal Cord injury community. The result was Dr Henry Buckett, a young, talented neurosurgery registrar sustaining a spinal cord injury that has left him paralysed from the chest down. A major fundraiser was organised, bringing together over 600 people, includin
g a large representation from the medical community, friends, family, business leaders and politicians to support Henry and at Henry's request Spinal Cord research in South Australia. At that event the Australian Medical Association (SA Branch) announced that they would further support this cause through their 2013 charity dinner to be held on May 11 at the Hilton International Hotel in Adelaide and A Drop in the Buckett was born. The funds raised from the AMA dinner will support the research of the SA Spinal Cord Injury Research Centre, though the RAH Research Fund, a silent auction on the night will further support Henry as he works toward returning to his career as a surgeon. Henry has faced and continues to face many challenges as he and his young family adjust to life as it is now. Inspired and informed by Henry's journey A Drop in the Buckett will soon become a not for profit charity. The aim of A Drop in the Buckett is to raise awareness about Spinal Cord Injury and to raise funds for equipment and resources that will benefit the greater community of those living with Spinal Cord Injury. We ask that you support this very worthy cause through attendance at the AMA dinner, through cash donation or through donation of goods for the Silent Auction.
