Tonight’s the night.

Pairs of improvisers dive right in
And only one pair can make it to the end.

Each round, the audience decides who stays and who gets the boot.
Who sinks?
Who swims?
Who gets one more chance to keep their story alive?

It could be a thriller. A rom-com. A tale of survival. Or something that absolutely nobody saw coming.

A room.
Some improvisors.
a bunch of ideas.
Absolutely no guarantee any of them will work.

The Jam is your chance to come together, play, and get a little bit weird.
Bring a game you love, something you’ve been working on, a half-baked idea, a fully-baked idea, or absolutely nothing.

We’ll kick things off together, then hand it over to the room.

Come play with people you know. Meet people you don’t. Try something you haven’t tried before.

It’s been a while. We’ve missed you. So let’s get back to making stuff up.

What’s a Jam?

Basically, it’s a low-pressure space to play, try things out and have a bit of fun. Got an idea for a game, scene or something you’ve been wanting to try? Bring it along. Got absolutely no idea? That’s fine too. Just turn up and go with the flow.

We’ll kick things off with some warm-up games, then open things up for some good old fashioned improv chaos.

No experience needed. No pressure. Just come and play.

Remember when they made you swim laps fully dressed at school? Well, that’s kind of like Sink or Swim.
We’re bringing back this classic OTF format on August 28th, and we’re looking for a cast of eight brave improvisers ready to jump in.
In Sink or Swim we see pairs of improvisers each perform scenes for the audience’s approval. After each round the audience has to eliminate a pair until we have one final duo who are able to bring their story to a dramatic climax!
The cast will rehearse on Thursday nights in the lead-up to the show.
We’re looking for improvisers with a year or more of experience, and previous Sink or Swim experience is a bonus. We’d especially love to see some faces who haven’t been on stage with us for a while!

FREE FOR OTF MEMBERS!

The Drop In is back... well... sort of.

We’re celebrating its return by making this first Drop In completely free for OTF members.
But there are limited spots, so bookings are essential.

We’ve mashed together everything you love about our Drop Ins with everything you love about our Impro Jams to create something beautifully chaotic.

Introducing... the Jam Drop.

This Saturday you’ll be guided by the wonderful Tigga as we play games, explore scenes, try out ideas and generally make it all up as we go. Whether you’ve never been to a Drop In before, you’re a regular, or you’re just keen to jump on stage and try something new, this is for you.

“But why is it called a Jam Drop?” we hear you ask.

Because we’ll be serving actual jam drops. You know... the biscuits your nanna always seemed to have in the tin. We take our branding very seriously.

Saturday 8 August
3:30pm – 5:30pm

Come for the improv.

Dear Flyers,

“I’m pretty sure there’s a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking?”

When it comes to the OTF committee the answer is obviously - No.

Despite this photo suggesting otherwise, the committee did eventually stop admiring each other’s impeccable cheekbones long enough to have a very productive meeting.

The main item on the agenda? Planning for the 2027 Adelaide Fringe.

And oh boy... we’ve got some ideas.

We’re cooking up shows, plotting mischief, and working on a few secret squirrel projects that we’re ridiculously excited to share with you when the time is right.

We can’t say much yet. We don’t want to spoil the surprise.

Watch this space. 2027 is already shaping up to be a very fun year.

Have you heard the buzz?

The On The Fly Troupe is coming.

Very soon we’ll be opening expressions of interest for our resident troupe of performers.

We’re looking for people who are ready to take the next step. People who want to sharpen their performance skills, work as a true ensemble, represent On The Fly, and create bold, joyful, unforgettable improv together.

It’s about committing to the craft, supporting your fellow performers, and saying “yes” to the challenge of growing on stage.
It’s not about how long you’ve been performing, it’s about finding the right mix of people who are ready to play!
And before anyone starts panicking into a paper bag... don’t worry!

The troupe isn’t the only way to perform with OTF. We’ll still have plenty of performance opportunities through our shows, jams, courses and special events. Our stage is staying wonderfully busy.

For now, consider this your friendly heads-up.
