Last year your generosity helped Delvin get her independence back! We had a chance to catch up with Delvin to hear her story, and find out what support from estara looked like including getting her back behind the wheel.

Plus end of financial year is a good time to do something that matters. If you donate before 30 June you can claim a tax deduction for donations over $2.

We want to share an important update with our clients, families, and communities across regional South Australia.

Over the past few months, as part of our new strategic plan, we've reviewed how we deliver services in regional areas. We want to make sure estara is set up to keep providing high quality, reliable supports now and into the future.

As a result, we're making some changes to our regional service delivery model.

Swipe through to find out more. ➡️

estara has a long history in regional communities, and that's not changing. Our client-facing teams will continue working locally. You'll receive the same services, from the same team, in the same way.

For more information and FAQs, you can visit estara.com.au, email [email protected], or call 1800 378 272.

What a morning! The estara team got together today for Council Australia Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, bringing in tasty homemade treats and supporting with donations. Every contribution helps raise vital funds for cancer research, support services, prevention programs and advocacy.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the event, and a big thank you to our staff member Caitlin for organising and hosting the morning tea for the 3rd year in a row! Cancer Council SA

As part of our National Volunteer Week celebrations, we hosted a morning tea in our Adelaide office.

It was great to introduce our volunteers to estara's CEO, Nicole Sykes, who presented a 20-year service award to Paul Griffin. Paul has been based at The Repat helping out in the Digital & Recreation Hub (aka QWERTY).

Paul’s volunteering and connection with QWERTY began when he was an inpatient in the Hampstead Spinal Injury Unit. He started volunteering in the early days, long before smartphones and iPads, when laptops were loaned out to inpatients to help them stay connected. From those beginnings, Paul has remained a constant and valued presence and his contribution over two decades is deeply appreciated.

Thank you Paul and all of our estara volunteers for the support and care you give back.

Meet Kay! Kay has been volunteering with estara for over 10 years, supporting many of our clients in a variety of roles including social visits, gardening and dog walking (that's Abbey pictured with Kay). 🐶

We asked Kay why she volunteers.

“When I first began volunteering, I was living in an apartment where I couldn’t have a pet or maintain a garden. Volunteering gave me an outlet for the things I really missed and valued.

What I value most now is the time I get to spend with clients and their pets and the opportunity to stay active. It’s had a really positive impact on both my mental and physical wellbeing.”

Thank you Kay for the support you give to our clients and their dogs. 💜

This week is National Volunteer Week and we're celebrating the hours of support our volunteers give to our clients (and their dogs!). 🐶🐾

Meet Tracey and her doggo Abbey. Tracey is an estara client who uses the volunteer program weekly for dog walking.

"Abbey absolutely loves Kay and her walks, it gives her back something she truly needs and she is so happy for it. I also really value the companionship and the time spent together. It has been wonderful to gain such a special friend who visits me twice a week.

Both my dog and I are incredibly grateful to estara for bringing Kay into our lives. She is a truly special person who gives so generously of her time, and I can’t thank her enough for everything she has given us over the years. Having a volunteer can be life-changing. It certainly has been for both me and my dog.” 💜

It’s National Volunteer Week, and we’re proud to introduce the wonderful Ros!

For the past five years, Ros has been volunteering with estara, supporting many of our clients in a variety of roles, including dog walking, gardening, social visits, shopping and organising.

We asked Ros what volunteering with estara means to her.

"Volunteering has truly been a lifeline for me. After retiring from nursing, I felt a loss of purpose, but giving my time to others helped restore my sense of self-worth. I’ve met so many wonderful people along the way, and the experience has given me far more than I expected. I’m grateful to be healthy enough to contribute, and it has made me stronger both mentally and physically."

Thank you Ros for your generous support. 💜

Happy International Nurses Day to our team of Nurses at estara! Thank you for everything you do and the heart you put into the support and care you give. Hear from our Nurses below on what their job means to them and why they do what they do.

"Why did I become a nurse? I’ve always had a strong social conscience and the desire to help others. My favourite quote is from the late, great Muhammad Ali who said that 'Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth'. It is a great privilege to be able to help people in their time of need and I am extremely grateful for my career in nursing and all it has taught me and brought into my life."- Kate.

"It’s wonderful when a career and a passion come together, that's how it feels working as a nurse with estara."- Maria.

"For 16 years, being a spinal and cancer nurse has been more than a career, it’s been family. My patients trust me during their most vulnerable moments, and that bond is irreplaceable. Their confidence in my advanced skills, compassion, and care brings purpose, pride, and meaning to every single day!" - Rachael.

We're excited to share estara's Strategic Plan for 2026 to 2030. It sets out where we're headed and how we'll get there, together.

It has been shaped by those who matter most, our clients, members, lived‑experience voices and our team. We thank everyone who attended workshops, shared feedback and contributed ideas throughout this process.

Building on more than 60 years of expertise, the strategy sets a clear direction for estara’s future. At its core, it reflects who we are and what matters most, empowering people and their communities to adapt and thrive, and ensuring we remain a trusted provider of specialist disability support in South Australia.

You can read the full strategy and message from our Chair, Beth Davidson-Park, and CEO, Nicole Sykes. See link in comments.
