This week we celebrate National Carers Week where we recognise and celebrate those who look after and provide unpaid care to their family members or friends.

The support and care they give is invaluable, with the importance of their role often going unnoticed.

Take some time this week to show your support for a carer in your life – acknowledge how important they are and how much their support means, offer them a break, encourage self-care or just check-in generally to see how they’re doing.

Everyone needs care, especially those that dedicate their lives to providing it to others.

Join us on Tuesday 20 or Wednesday 21 October to chat about your NDIS options, housing pathways or support services.

Whether you’re starting your NDIS journey, supporting a family member, or looking to better understand your options, these sessions offer practical information, helpful insights and the chance to connect with experienced disability professionals.

Our experienced team will share practical information about local disability supports, NDIS changes, Supported Independent Living (SIL), Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) and more.

Earlier this week, we had 5 participants from our Forward Steps MyPath Day Options program graduate with a Cert I in Access to Vocational Pathways through SA Learning Centre - RTO #4881.

They celebrated with their support staff and families as they received their certificates in a graduation ceremony at INC Café on Monday.

The Cert I focusses on helping participants build confidence, independence, and practical skills for employment and everyday life.

As we enter October, you may begin to see changes to your NDIS funding when your plan is reviewed, renewed or reassessed.

Most importantly, your funding for essential supports including personal care, nursing, Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), mobility supports, high intensity supports and employment supports won’t change.

Where you may see a reduction in your funding is if you receive community participation supports or daily living skills.

If you or your family member has an upcoming plan review, it's important to understand how this might affect you and what options are available, but we’re here to help.

We can support you and navigate these changes together while helping you understand your new plan and explore available safeguards where possible.
