Women in Innovation

Women in Innovation Nominate or apply now for the 2026 Women in Innovation Awards.

Women in Innovation is a community that strives to support and elevate South Australia's innovative women. In 2014 Women in Innovation partnered with NewsCorp to launch the Winnovation Awards, an awards program showcasing inspiring and innovative South Australian women across eight categories. The Winnovation Awards have continued to go from strength to strength with a total of 10 categories featured in the annual awards.

Last week, the community behind the Women in Innovation Awards came together.

Sponsors. Partners. Judges. Award winners. Finalists. Alumni. Innovators. Supporters.

The people who power the ecosystem behind the Awards - and the innovation defining the future.

The Women in Innovation After Awards was a moment to reconnect beyond the stage, reflect on the impact of our Awards recipients and mark the strength of the network driving innovation forward.

A special thank you to Lisa McAskill, who joined us as MC and as part of the growing Women in Innovation network, bringing her signature warmth and energy to the room.

We also heard from Dr Fiona Kerr, neuroscientist (NeuroTech Institute) and Women in Innovation Board Member, sharing reflections on collaboration, leadership and human-centred innovation. 2025 award recipients Behnia-Willison Fariba Dr (FBW Gynaecology Plus) and Christel Cherryadi (Mirror XR) spoke about what comes next as their groundbreaking work continues to grow in impact. We were also joined by Karen Surmon, General Manager of Women & Leadership Australia, announcing a new partnership between Women & Leadership Australia and Women in Innovation.

We are immensely grateful to our Principal Partner, the University of South Australia (now Adelaide University), and to our Gold Partner, BHP, and Bronze Partner, the Department of State Development, whose leadership and support continue to strengthen the Women in Innovation platform.

We also acknowledge our Award sponsors whose support makes this platform possible: SA Water, University of South Australia, The Hedonist, Department for Environment and Water, Office of the Commissioner for Public Sector Employment, Nightingale Cardiology + Research, Sweat, Oranje Creative, RAA, Stone & Chalk, BHP Think & Act Differently, Madderns Patent & Trademark Attorneys, and the Department for Education.

And to our sponsors and the many supporters across our community - thank you.
Your belief in innovation and in women leading change makes this possible.

On International Women’s Day, we’re proud to stand with the community powering women in innovation.

Because innovation never happens alone.

Turning waste into a renewable resource.
A 2025 Women in Innovation Awards Sustainability Finalist, Jeannine Malcolm is closing the loop on food and organic waste through her company Mobius Farms.

By adapting the ‘natural technology’ of insect bioconversion, Jeannine converts waste into sustainable protein for feed, nutraceuticals, and soil enrichment. Her modular L-Pod farming system empowers communities to create local circular economies - reducing waste, cutting emissions, and producing new value streams.

Through innovation and environmental leadership, Jeannine is proving that sustainability and profitability can coexist - and that small creatures can drive big change.
