Huge congratulations to La Popular Taqueria in Port Adelaide on receiving a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide South Australia 2027! Recognition for great food at great value, and anyone whoā€™s eaten here knows exactly why.

Itā€™s fantastic to see not one, but TWO Port Adelaide businesses featured in the guide, with Low & Slow American BBQ also getting recognition. So much to be proud of in our little corner of Adelaide!

And can we just taco ā€™bout how amazing these tacos are?! šŸŒ® Absolutely delicious and such well deserved recognition. Congratulations to the whole team!

Is this beach openā€¦ to everyone? šŸ–ļø

Last summer we launched Open Beach at Frankston. Beach matting, beach wheelchairs, day beds and a team of staff and volunteers helped people with disabilities enjoy the water. For some it was their first time ever.

But you told us something was missing. A Changing Places bathroom.

You were right.

This summer that missing piece is coming. A facility with an adult change table, a hoist and space for carers. Because getting onto the sand is only part of an accessible day at the beach.

Now we need your help to make this summer bigger and better. Accessible Beaches is looking for staff and volunteers to help run the program.

A little over a year ago, I visited Mark Butlerā€™s office. Letā€™s just say it didnā€™t go well. So I decided to go back and see if anything had changed.

His office told the ABC they were discussing a more accessible location. But I still couldnā€™t get through the front door in my wheelchair, and nobody answered the doorbell.

A side alley, roller door and steep ramp shouldnā€™t be my way in.

The Department of Finance administers federal electorate offices. My disability discrimination complaint against the Commonwealth, represented by the Department of Finance, wasnā€™t resolved through the Australian Human Rights Commission. Iā€™ve now commenced proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia.

We deserve to reach our elected representatives with dignity.

A year ago, I couldnā€™t get through the front door of Mark Butlerā€™s office in my wheelchair.

His office told the ABC they were in discussions about a more accessible space. So I went back to see what had changed.

Same office. Same steps. I rang the doorbell and nobody came. It took someone else walking up the stairs and knocking before a staff member answered.

Getting inside shouldnā€™t mean being taken down a side alley, through a roller door and up a steep ramp. I want to use the front door, just like everyone else.

Thereā€™s also some context I didnā€™t cover in the video: the Department of Finance is responsible for administering federal electorate offices. After my experience, I lodged a disability discrimination complaint with the Australian Human Rights Commission against the Commonwealth of Australia, represented by the Department of Finance.

That process did not resolve the issue. Iā€™ve now commenced proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia.

People with disabilities should be able to access their elected representatives with dignity. How many other electorate offices around Australia have barriers like these?

VIRGIN AUSTRALIA UPDATE

Two weeks after my Virgin Australia experience...

Since sharing what happened, Iā€™ve had some really constructive conversations with Virgin Australia about accessibility and what needs to improve.

Theyā€™ve acknowledged the SmartDrive was incorrectly assessed, and Iā€™m encouraged by the work now underway.

Over the next six months, Iā€™ll be sharing my lived experience and insights with Virgin Australia as they work to strengthen their approach to accessibility.

Iā€™m hopeful this is the start of meaningful, positive change for people with disabilities who fly.

Hidden in the back streets of Port Adelaide is a family run Chinese restaurant that has been serving the same recipes for more than 30 years.

I tried their honey chicken but the real question is, could Golden Lakes actually be one of the best Chinese restaurants in Australia?

Kicked off a Virgin Australia plane today. āœˆļøā™æļø

I boarded my flight from Sydney to Adelaide with my wheelchair, SmartDrive and service dog, just as I have on multiple Virgin flights over the past week.

The problem was the seat Virgin had allocated me. There was nowhere safe to secure my SmartDrive without it rolling around near my service dog. I asked for another solution, including moving seats or securing it elsewhere on the aircraft.

Instead, I was offloaded from the plane in front of everyone.

I didnā€™t choose that seat. The airline put me there. Yet I was the person removed when the setup they provided didnā€™t work.

This is exactly why so many people with disabilities have anxiety about flying.

Itā€™s 2026. Disabled passengers shouldnā€™t have to fight this hard simply to get on a plane and get home.

Iā€™m angry, upset and genuinely shocked by how this was handled today.

Looking for a Head Chef. Will it be you? šŸ‘Øā€šŸ³

In just a couple of months weā€™ll be opening JUNO, our brand new waterfront cafĆ©, brunch destination and events venue in Port Adelaide, and weā€™re looking for an incredible Head Chef to help bring it to life.

Weā€™re not looking for someone who simply wants to turn up and cook. Weā€™re looking for someone who wants to be part of building something truly special from the ground up. Someone with the passion to create an amazing menu, build a fantastic team and help shape what we hope becomes one of South Australiaā€™s best hospitality experiences.

JUNO is a 200 capacity venue built literally over the water in the Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary. By day weā€™ll be serving breakfast, brunch and lunch, and on weekends weā€™ll host weddings, corporate events and private functions. We only announced the venue about a month ago and weā€™ve already had wedding enquiries, which is incredibly exciting. Experience with functions and high end catering would be a huge advantage.

One feature Iā€™m especially excited about is our boat pontoon. Visitors will be able to pull up, scan a QR code, order their food and have it delivered straight to their boat while enjoying one of the most unique dining locations in Australia.
