SA Cat Rescue Inc (SACR) was founded in 2019 by a group of cat enthusiasts with a drive to get cats off the streets and into homes. SACR is a totally not-for-profit organisation with bases in the Adelaide metro area and a regional base in Port Pirie. Through a network of foster carers and volunteers we rescue stray, abandoned, and unwanted cats, keeping them safe, warm, and loved, until they can f

ind their forever homes. SACR aims to rescue cats and kittens from the harshness of street life, and to prepare them for their new life.

She's a chatty little lady who enjoys a good ear scratch, but she's also been through quite a bit recently and will need a patient person who is happy to let her settle in at her own pace. Once she feels safe, she'll have the chance to show you the lovely girl underneath all that floof.

Pippi needs to be the only cat in the home, but she's been getting along well with cat-savvy dogs at her foster home. She's untested with children, but should be okay with respectful, gentle kids.

Her glorious coat also needs someone who knows what they're doing. Regular brushing is essential to keep her long, luxurious fur healthy and mat-free, so her adopter must be prepared to make grooming part of her routine.

Pippi isn't looking for a rushed introduction - she's looking for someone patient enough to let her say, "I'll come out when I'm good and ready, thank you." 😂

Please excuse the rant (and tooth X-ray) I promise we will be back to sunshine and kittens again tomorrow 😂 🐈‍⬛

In march, SACR assisted with a situation involving an elderly person. The details of which I won’t go into for privacy reasons, but during the course of helping with this, even with PPE, I contracted a severe bacterial infection.

When I got up in the wee hours of the morning to bottle feed a kitten, I fainted, fractured my coccyx and slammed my teeth together.

An ambulance ride (including bill) a hospital stay, IV fluids and antibiotics, and a pretty full on Hospital stay and weeks after of feeling lie absolute rubbish.

Four months down the track and I’m still dealing with the consequences. Today I found out that I fractured my tooth which is not salvageable.

I’d like to take a moment to remind people that not only are we a *completely non for profile VOLUNTEER run and operated organisation* but we are also human beings who donate our time, skills and put our bodies at risk dealing with many different situations and living creatures that are often pointy, having a hard time and unhappy to be helped. People included.

We get bit, we get scratched, we climb under buildings, up trees, behind sheds, walk around in industrial sites.

We deal with the consequences of other people’s actions and choices daily. From unwanted litters, to abandoned and mistreated cats.

It’s a lot.

Further more we get abused for not being able to help, for not doing enough, for not being able to offer to pay vet bills for peoples cats. The list is endless, as is the demands made on us.

Our services, like kindness, are free but it doesn’t mean that they don’t cost us. Both as an organisation and as individuals.

Huge thanks to my dentist crew who have been wondering as always.

Now I’m going to go and cuddle my foster cats and wrap my head around what’s next.

Florence may be small, but she has absolutely no intention of letting that stop her from living a very big kitten life. 💕

This sweet little torbie girl is playful, happy and full of personality. She's a tiny tabby and white package with little sprinkles of orange, a big heart and a very serious appreciation for food, cuddles and her feline siblings.

Florence loves other cats and enjoys having furry friends around. When she's not busy playing, you'll find her making biscuits on soft blankets or curling up with her humans on the couch - preferably after checking whether there are any snacks available.

She's also good with dogs and children, making her a lovely little all-rounder who would fit beautifully into a loving family.

Small in stature, big in heart and apparently quite enthusiastic about snacks - Florence is ready to find her forever people. 🥰

Lurch has an important message for you: stop what you're doing and cuddle him. 😂 Getting photos of this boy was quite the challenge because apparently sitting nicely for the camera is far less important than getting into your lap.

This gorgeous tabby and white boy is incredibly loving, people-oriented and completely committed to receiving affection. He doesn't just enjoy cuddles - he demands love. If there's a lap available, Lurch would like it immediately, thank you very much.

He loves kids, enjoys playing with toys and is happiest when he's right in the middle of whatever his people are doing. He's a wonderfully affectionate boy with a huge capacity for love and plenty of personality to match.

Lurch has had some difficult experiences with other cats, so while he was previously very good with them, we're being cautious about making promises about future feline friendships. He'll need careful, gradual introductions with any other cats and the right match. Dogs haven't been tested yet.

If you're looking for a loving lap cat who will happily make affection a full-time occupation, Lurch would like to submit his application immediately. ❤️

Our deepest apologies for the unpleasant and upsetting photo and content of this post but an image is worth a thousand words and we have a point to get across that we, as an organisation and as individuals, feel very strongly about.

Please, please, please keep your cats safe inside or safe in cat runs…

We have lost count of how many missing cat messages we get. How may times were tagged in missing cat posts.

And you would be absolutely stunned by how many deceased cats we go out and scan… unfortunately 90% of the time there is no microchip to be found and no way to give their humans any closure.

We treat the bodies with respect.

We are saddened by their deaths.

This poor soul, with his green collar, was found less than a foot in from a sidewalk, in three inch high weeds, and was left there to fully rot.

We scanned the bones, we scanned the dirt, we checked the collar for information. No surprise there was nothing to be found.

Another nameless, lost cat, in what feels like a sea of nameless lost cats.

They deserve more.

The world is big, it’s dangerous and it’s cruel.

So please, please, please - keep them inside. Keep them safe.
