Education post regarding bird-flu and the discovery of two deceased birds found at the club today. The first specimen, a seagull, was located adjacent to the boat ramp. The second specimen, a cormorant, was found on the perimeter fence within the club property near the main gate. Members are requested to remain vigilant and report any similar observations to PIRSA for appropriate collection and handling to get tested for bird-flu.If these birds have bird-flu we will update at a later date. Whose the odd one out ? 😆

During the weekend, a pair of Nankeen Night Heron parents alongside their young offspring were captured at the club. The striking visual contrast between the adults and their juvenile is truly remarkable to observe. The mottled brown, streaked plumage provides vital camouflage against predators while they grow in muddy wetlands and mangroves into adulthood.

Spotted at the club yesterday was this playful cormorant who kept appearing beside the pelicans, flaunting little fish in its beak as if to taunt them, saying, 'I caught it, you didn't! Ha ha!'
Also pictured a beautiful singing Honey-eater.

Another successful working bee took place last Saturday, featuring a commendable turnout of volunteers and numerous tasks accomplished around the area.

Pruning of the palm tree at the wash-down bay was carried out, several storage shipping containers were painted, and potholes were filled following a wet winter. Excellent work, everyone, and thank you for your assistance.

Please remember that your participation in the working bees can help reduce the cost of your membership.

Come along, help your club…and earn a credit towards exemption from next year’s $100.00 Service Fee. The exemption is the reward for those who help the club on FOUR occasions during the year in any of the following ways:

Attend working bees, held on the first Saturday of each month

Assist at club functions with serving, dishes and general cleaning

Work behind the bar

Attend general meetings (there are four general meetings each year, so attending these alone will earn your $100 exemption)

Any other contribution agreed to by the committee.

Let's all do better members.
While it may seem like a small issue, it's been occurring too frequently lately, especially with the mess at the wash-down bay, such as fish carcasses and other debris. (Dan Magnusson marina end)

It just wasn't this pelican's day at the club recently with this pesky sea-gull giving him a hard time.
