"Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord". - Job 1:21.

On behalf of my family and the Episcopal Diocese of Twic East, I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of our emeritus Bishop Nathaniel Garang Anyieth Jakdit, his relatives, the province of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, and the entire Christian community in South Sudan for the passing of our beloved mother, Martha Atong Ajak, the wife of Bishop Nathaniel Garang Anyieth.

Mama Martha Atong Ajak was an instrumental source of spiritual support for Bishop Nathaniel Garang's ministry from the 1970s through the 2000s, during a time of evangelisation, planting, and spreading the word of God. She played a significant role in converting and guiding thousands to Christianity during the Second Civil War. Martha stood by Bishop Nathaniel's side, travelling from place to place to preach the word of God.

She will be remembered as a mother of faith who supported the Mothers' Union of the Episcopal Church of the Sudan during the SPLM/A war of liberation. Throughout her time, she supported mothers in displaced and refugee camps, as well as in neighbouring countries. Collectively our thoughts and prayers are with Bishop Nathaniel's family during this difficult time.

May her soul rest in peace and rise in glory.

Blessings
Your servant in Christ
Bishop Jacob Deng Garang Akech. The Diocesan Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Twic East.

SIGNIFICANT ROLE OF THE LATE REV. STEPHEN DIT MAKÖK DUT IN JƆL WƆ LIEEC YOUTH MINISTRY.

I was impressed upon reflection of the Jɔl Wɔ Lieec Conference in Nakuru, Kenya, which highlighted the vital role the late Rev. Stephen Dit played in the youth ministry in the Episcopal Diocese of Bor and its associated dioceses to date. To commence with his biography, the late Rev. Stephen Dit Makok Dut Ajak hailed from Ajuong in the sectional of Ayoliel, where he spent his formative years until he was called by God to serve in His church.

As a renowned Hymnodist, Rev. Stephen composed a total of 51 hymns, with most being short choruses that Sunday Schools continue to cherish and dance to. Furthermore, in 1990, Rev. Stephen was elected by the Diocese Synod to represent the youth as a Youth Coordinator, with a mandate from the Retired Diocesan Bishop, Bishop Emeritus Nathaniel Garang Anyieth, to collect, correct, and edit hymns from the native land, dispute place camps, and Kakuma refugees camp and published in a book in 1999. Unfortunately, Stephen fell ill and passed away in Nairobi in 2001.

His teaching style, as witnessed by many, is invaluable and holds great significance for the children of God. The story behind the song 'Löm wuɔɔk Yïn Yekoba, ba wɔ waar buk ya kɔc piɛth në cieŋduic..' deeply moved me. During the civil war, Stephen returned home and paid his respects to all the villages he knew before the war broke out, only to find graveyards containing the native inhabitants' remains, prompting him to compose this song, emphasizing that 'jɔk athöl wɔ në cuɔlic atɔ̈ ke ye raŋ nyin.' As the chief editor of BÄK KËËTKU YEKOBA (BKY), I gained invaluable insights from him.

I extend my sincerest condolences and pay tribute to him for his selflessness, which enabled the church of Christ to grow and spread the gospel to non-Christians, allowing them to receive the Word. Although he left this world without children, his tireless dedication has profoundly impacted God's kingdom, as numerous mentored Sunday school members achieved their personal goals, with many becoming priests to continue serving the Church of God.

We celebrated your life to carry on your teachings!

Blessing!

The Rev. Abraham Dot P. Kok
Vicar, Church of the Holy Apostles
