The Women in Economics Network (WEN) has been formed to promote and support the careers of female economists in Australia.

WEN is associated with the Economic Society of Australia (ESA). You can become a member of WEN by joining your State/Territory branch of the Economic Society of Australia (ESA) and opting into WEN as part of your ESA membership. WEN membership is free with your ESA membership.

📢 Ken Clements PhD Scholarship — supporting women in economics

Applications are opening soon for the Ken Clements PhD Scholarship at UWA, established in honour of Emeritus Professor Ken Clements and his contribution to the economics profession.

The scholarship encourages domestic Australian women to pursue a PhD in economics. Offered as a top-up to a Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship, it provides combined support of around $65,000 per annum (tax free), plus a generous travel allowance.

📅 Applications open 1 October 2026 and close 31 October 2026, for commencement in early 2027.
