Every student and migrant worker deserves to feel supported, informed, and connected to their community.

Many international students and migrant workers face challenges navigating workplace rights, wellbeing concerns, and knowing where to turn for support when they need it most.
At the recent R U OK? Day event hosted by the Student Representative Council at Acknowledge Education Adelaide Campus, SA Migrant Workers was proud to contribute to meaningful conversations about wellbeing, workplace rights, and the importance of checking in with one another. Together, we can build stronger, safer, and more connected communities where nobody feels alone.

Migrant women are essential to building a more equal, inclusive and connected society where everyone has the opportunity to contribute, belong and thrive. But many migrant women face challenges navigating services, understanding workplace rights, accessing opportunities and knowing where to turn for support when needed. SA Migrant Workers was pleased to participate in the Building Your Village: Navigating Support, Services and Opportunities in South Australia event hosted by Migrant Women Professional Network (MWPN), where we shared information about our services and the support available to migrant women. The discussion highlighted the importance of strong community connections, access to opportunities, workplace rights and support services, helping women build meaningful networks, feel empowered, and create a sense of belonging in the place they now call home.

Community Wellbeing Forum - City of Adelaide

Behind every job is a person, a story and a journey of building a life in a new community. For many migrant workers and international students, workplace challenges such as discrimination, isolation or a lack of information about their rights can affect much more than employment alone. At our Behind the Job: Understanding Migrant Workers’ Experiences workshop during the Community Wellbeing Forum by the City of Adelaide, we explored these experiences, shared knowledge about workplace rights and encouraged meaningful conversations about wellbeing, dignity, safety and belonging. Because workplace rights are also a wellbeing issue, when people are informed, connected and empowered, stronger and more inclusive communities can flourish.

ACTU's Momentum Organising Conference.

A stronger future for migrant workers starts with community. At the Organising Conference, the SA Migrant Workers Project joined discussions on Migrant Worker Centres and Borderless Solidarity, reinforcing that the most effective support is built by migrants, for migrants. The key takeaway was clear: lasting change happens when we build trust, connect with community leaders, strengthen partnerships, and empower migrant workers to lead. We are proud to stand alongside multicultural communities across South Australia, supporting migrant workers regardless of visa status and recognising the invaluable contribution they make to our society. If you're a community leader or advocate, we'd love to connect and work together.

The SA Migrant Workers Project was proud to participate in the inaugural Joint Meeting of the SA Modern Slavery Network and SA Anti-Trafficking Working Group.
We shared our educational resources, introduced our project, and connected with government agencies, community leaders, and organisations committed to supporting vulnerable communities.
By continuing these conversations, we can bring often-overlooked migrant worker experiences into broader discussions and help turn awareness into meaningful action.

Let's turn awareness into action. The SA Migrant Workers Project provides free education sessions for migrant workers, employers, community groups, and stakeholders. If you'd like to host a session for your community or organisation, we'd love to hear from you. Visit our website or contact us to learn more about working together
