Last Thursday, our club gathered for a wonderfully inspiring meeting built around the theme “Be yourself, everyone else is taken.” Fittingly, the room was full of authenticity, laughter, and honest storytelling 😆🎤 📖
Alicia led the meeting with confidence and warmth as our Toastmaster and welcomed our guests with her friendly enthusiasm.
Nadine set the tone early with a fun Word of the Day before Chris stepped in last minute to deliver a surprising Warm-Up to the Topic all about what you would do if you were a speech judge!
We next got into prepared speeches - Thiloka introduced herself to the club with a heartfelt speech about embracing her own accent. Gaynor then entertained us with her humorous contest speech about getting older and its unexpected realities
After the break, Rosie hosted Table Topics with thoughtful questions inspired by the meeting’s quote. The second half of the meeting also saw constructive evaluations - Gaynor evaluating Thiloka, showcasing her experience, River, a returning member, offering an his characteristically insightful evaluation of Gaynor’s speech, and Rana providing a clear evaluation of Table Topics – one of the hardest evaluations to do!
Nadine returned with a helpful grammar report, Adriana tested our listening skills with a fun quiz and Trini kept us running smoothly with precise timing throughout.
Finally, Chris wrapped up the evening with a comprehensive general evaluation.
We’re going to carry that spirit of authenticity into the end of the year next week as well!
