Australian Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce (SA) invites you to
SA Wine Connect 2026
Creating Innovative Opportunities for the South Australian Wine Industry
Globally the wine market is under threat due to lower per consumption rates, new and exciting alcohol products specifically aimed at 25-40 age group, and the perception that wine is “last year’s trend”.
Vietnam is a dynamic beverage market with a growing middle class and an aspirational cohort seeking new, exciting products that “speak” to their generation including sustainability, economic and health considerations.
South Australia requires a new approach to the Vietnamese market if we are to realise the market potential for our industry. Our previous SA Wine Connect events have been a huge success with large trade attendance and extensive media coverage. There are, however, two wine sectors that to date we have no developed strategies to capture the potential:
Organic Sustainable and Natural Wines in partnership with Bulk Wines as part of one unique event to be held in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City in September 2026.
The Australian Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce has developed an exciting program to tap into these embryonic markets and capture significant increases in market share for South Australia.
Why
Both these sectors of the market are under-performing in Vietnam (and elsewhere in S E Asia) in an environment where South Australian producers are holding records stock levels with little opportunities in the more traditional markets.
South Australia has a great range of both bulk wine varieties and organic and sustainable wines that speak to the aspirations of an ever maturing market.
The Market Potential
Australia exports about $2.3 million of wine to Vietnam of which $1.8 million is packaged and $470,000 litres in bulk. Organic wines are growing but there is no statistical data from Wine Australia. Our own market intelligence has identified that importers and distributors are increasing their portfolio percentage for these wines. They are also “bottling to demand” wines that have been imported from bulk.
Vietnam imports litres of bulk wine are projected to grow by at least 18% over the next 12 months. At present European and South America produces dominate the market. Similarly Europe to the major supplier of organic and natural wines.
