💛 You never really know who needs an invitation.

This week is Loneliness Awareness Week.

Loneliness isn't always obvious. It doesn't just affect people who live alone or don't have friends. Sometimes it's felt in a crowd... in a family... even in a church.

Often, what someone needs most isn't advice.

It's simply to know that someone noticed.

A text, a phone call, an invitation for a coffee, a walk.

A meal, a genuine "How are you, really?"

Those small moments can mean more than we realise.

At The Open Door, that's what we've always hoped to offer—a warm welcome, a cuppa, conversation, and a place where people can simply belong. No pressure. No expectations. Just people making room for people.

We're open this week 6th August 10 - 12.

Over the past few months we've been reflecting on The Open Door and what it might look like going forward.

Some Thursdays have been wonderfully encouraging, while others have been very quiet. We know life is busy, and we'd love to make sure we're offering something that genuinely serves our local community.

For the next little while, we'll be trialling The Open Door once a month. This will also give us time to see what level of interest there is and how we might best move forward.

If you've ever been along, have thought about coming, or know someone who might enjoy a relaxed morning over a cuppa and conversation, we'd really value your thoughts.

We're not looking for people to simply say it's a great idea—we'd genuinely love your honest feedback as we consider the future of The Open Door.

How is it Thursday already?!!

We're OPEN again tomorrow (Thursday)...and I think 5 month old Honey pup might come along for the morning too 🥰

Pop in between 10am–12pm for a cuppa, a chat, some company and probably a little puppy love! Stay a little or stay a while — you're always welcome.

An update from us...
After tomorrow, The Open Door will be changing to opening once a month. We're still working through what that will look like, so I'll pop up another post as soon as I have more information and dates to share.
But for now... come and join us tomorrow! 💛

Due to a few of us being unwell or otherwise unavailable, The Open Door will be closed today.

Sorry for any inconvenience. We'll let you know when the doors are open again.

In the meantime, our church doors are always open on Sunday mornings, and everyone is very welcome.

EPIC for Kids begins at 9:30 am, and parents are welcome to stay for a coffee and a chat while the children are enjoying their activities.

Our morning service starts at 11:00 am.

We are a group of ordinary people from all over Adelaide who volunteer our time to help create a welcoming community. Different people lead different activities, giving each week its own flavour and allowing the responsibility—and the joy—to be shared.

The Open Door began as a way of introducing ourselves to our local neighbourhood and offering a place where anyone feeling lonely, isolated, or simply looking for some company could drop in for a cuppa, a warm conversation, and whatever activity we happened to have planned that day. No pressure. No strings attached.

More recently, our numbers have been quite low, and we're wondering whether The Open Door is still meeting a need in the community.

If you've read this far, we'd genuinely love to hear from you. Is there something that would encourage you to come along? Are there activities or ideas you'd enjoy? Or do you have any suggestions about how we could better serve our local community?
