We're pleased to announce our new partner, YAKKUM Emergency Unit (YEU), an Indonesian humanitarian organisation that has worked alongside communities in disaster response, risk reduction and climate adaptation since 2001.

In December 2025, Anglican Overseas Aid supported YEU's response to the flash floods in North Sumatra, reaching 1,281 people with emergency shelter, hygiene support, health promotion and evacuation-centre coordination.

Together, we look forward to standing with communities in Indonesia as they recover, rebuild and grow more resilient to future disasters.

YEU is supported by the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP).

2.4 million people in Mozambique are expected to need health care this year. Malaria cases have surged 55%. When USAID withdrew funding in early 2025, families in the Nampula region were left with nowhere to turn.

The Diocese of Nampula is determined to keep helping its communities thrive.

‘As Christians, it’s almost negligent for us not to be taking part in responding to a call to care,’ Christine shared at the Melbourne book launch of Called to Care.

As we celebrate World Environment Day, it’s worth sitting with that for a moment.

God made this earth, called it good, and entrusted it to us.

How we steward it has real consequences for people far beyond our own communities, neighbours living in conditions far more vulnerable than ours.

Creation care is a calling that belongs to all of us, expressed in our everyday lives. How we use water. What we throw away. Whether we’re paying attention.

When medicine is scarce, knowledge saves lives 🤝

Since USAID withdrew, families in Mozambique have been walking for hours to reach clinics, only to be sent away with prescriptions they cannot afford to fill.

Prevention work has never mattered more. The Diocese of Nampula is training local volunteers, teaching families how to prevent malaria, improving hygiene and sanitation, and reaching the next generation with life-saving health education.

We’re currently recruiting for:

📊 Senior Business Systems & Data Manager

This new role will lead AOA’s business systems and data capability—spanning CRM stewardship (currently Salesforce), organisational workflows, reporting and digital readiness.

You’ll improve data integrity and usability, deliver reliable insights through dashboards and analysis, and help strengthen end-to-end supporter journeys.

Blending hands-on technical delivery with values-based people leadership, you’ll help ensure AOA’s systems are fit for purpose, proportionate to our scale, and supportive of mission delivery.

⚖️ Compliance & Standards Lead

This position will support AOA’s preparation for DFAT Full Reaccreditation and ACFID Code compliance. It will coordinate accreditation processes, documentation and internal readiness activities, support safeguarding and complaints systems, and oversee policy and compliance frameworks.

When communities are facing hardship, prayer keeps us connected to the hope we share in Christ.

This month, we pray for Mozambique, where AOA’s partner, the Diocese of Nampula, is walking alongside families facing deep challenges.

We ask God to bring healing, health and hope to Nampula, and to strengthen the staff and volunteers carrying out this faithful work.

As Romans 12:12 reminds us, we remain faithful in prayer. May our partners and their volunteers not grow weary, but be strengthened by God as they continue this work.
