Taekwondo, which was called Subak, Kwon Boeb or Taekkyon was eagerly practiced in the Choson dynasty, which lasted until the year 1910 and ended with the Japanese occupation. Under Japanese rule, Martial Arts were prohibited alongside cultural and musical activities of the Koreans.
