The Votive Church occupation is only one case on a Europe wide agenda, strategically planned and implemented by leftwing activists trying to find out, how far western legal systems can be challenged. Opposite to similar ballgames in Germany and France, where the aggressors have been removed from occupied churches within hours only, Austrian society turned out to be a willingly victim for such kind of ideology field testing. As both Austrian government and church has reacted as being hoped for, the degree of aggression could have been increased gradually. The less resistance, the more demanding and barefaced it got: Starting with "right of residence" (for rejected asylum searchers, who should have been deported before) almost seamlessly up to the well-known communistic chorals of "no border, no nation". Hard to understand, how the media pushed and even worse finally the Vienna archbishop granted sanctuary for (legally refused) economic refugees. Incomprehensible as neither national laws nor Codex Iuris Canonici (CIC 1983) know any thing about sanctuary in modern times.
