Join us for the PURE Growth Fund Pre-Launch Webinar where we’ll introduce the programme’s mission, structure and support offerings including incentive capital, technical assistance and policy engagement designed to empower clean energy SMEs and agribusinesses in Tanzania.

The PURE Growth Fund's first Call for Proposals is launching in Tanzania with information and networking events in Arusha, Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam! PURE Growth is designed to accelerate the Productive Use of Renewable Energy (PURE) in agri-food value chains through supporting clean energy SMEs and agribusinesses to scale up their operations using a multi-dimensional approach combining incentive capital, technical assistance and fostering an enabling environment for PURE technologies.

🌍⚡ Earth Day 2025: Our Power, Our Planet 🌱

This Earth Day reminds us that the shift to renewable energy must be fair, inclusive, and accelerated – for the benefit of people, communities, and our planet.

Transitioning to renewables is more than tackling the climate crisis; it’s an opportunity to reshape our energy systems in a way that empowers communities, protects nature, and ensures no one is left behind.

🌿 Fairness must be at the heart of this transition:

✅ Access – Renewables provide clean, reliable, and affordable energy to remote areas, helping end energy poverty and improving health, education and economic opportunities.
✅ Affordability – Clean energy ensures price stability, shielding vulnerable communities from fossil fuel market volatility.
✅ Participation – Community-led projects enable people to manage and benefit from their own energy, creating jobs, building skills and keeping value within local economies.
✅ Public Health – Fossil fuel pollution disproportionately impacts low-income communities. Transitioning to clean energy can reduce health risks and lower healthcare costs.

In 2023 alone, renewables created 2.5 million new jobs globally and saved $409 billion in fossil fuel costs since 2000. But to ensure no one is left behind, we must break down the barriers preventing equal access to clean energy.

This future must be built on justice and inclusion. Because energy transformation isn’t just about technology — it’s about people.

And this work is already underway.

Launching in Q2, the PURE Growth Fund will support businesses integrating clean energy into agriculture. By introducing solar-powered irrigation, off-grid solutions, and energy-efficient tools, PURE will help smallholder farmers increase productivity and reduce reliance on fossil fuels, driving Tanzania’s agricultural transformation.

Together, we can support Tanzania's agricultural transformation — turning today’s challenges into opportunities for growth, prosperity and a more food-secure future. 🌍🌾

🌱 In Tanzania, many smallholder farmers still operate under subsistence farming conditions, facing low productivity and limited access to markets. What if we could transform this with and solutions? 💡💡

The government's new policy aims to increase agricultural productivity, support smallholder farmers, and strengthen . More specifically, Tanzania’s agricultural transformation strategy, Agenda 10/30, sets ambitious goals to accelerate agricultural growth. By focusing on irrigation expansion, enhancing seed multiplication, and supporting farmers through land aggregation, the initiative seeks to improve productivity and ensure food and nutrition security.

Launching in Q2, the PURE Growth Fund will support businesses integrating maturing technologies that align with this vision. PURE Growth aims to enhance agricultural productivity, improve resilience, and boost smallholder farmers’ incomes by identifying scalable, sustainable solutions. Crucially, PURE Growth recognises that energy access is key to the success of these goals. By integrating renewable energy technologies into agriculture—such as solar-powered irrigation systems, off-grid energy solutions for processing, and energy-efficient farming tools—we can drive productivity improvements and reduce dependency on erratic power supply. This energy integration will play a vital role in transforming Tanzania’s agricultural landscape, aligning with the government’s priorities and ensuring that smallholder farmers have the resources they need to thrive.

Together, we can support Tanzania's agricultural transformation—turning challenges into opportunities for growth, prosperity, and a more food-secure future. 🌍🌾

🌱 59% of Tanzanians cannot afford a nutritious diet. What if we could solve this by combining renewable energy and agriculture? 💡

Energy-powered solutions like solar cold storage and renewable irrigation can increase productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, and help deliver affordable, nutritious food.

Agriculture accounts for nearly 30% of Tanzania's GDP, but unmanaged production risks cost the sector over US$200 million annually. Post-harvest losses for perishable crops can reach up to 40% due to poor storage.

The PURE Growth Fund, launching in Q2 2025, will provide financial support for businesses integrating renewable energy into the agri-food value chain, helping reduce losses and improve food security.

It’s time to leverage renewable energy to build a more food-secure Tanzania with sustainable solutions! 🌍🍽️

🌱 Did you know solar-powered cold storage can boost Tanzania’s agri-food value chain using renewable energy technologies? 🥶

With an estimated market size of USD 50 million for cold storage infrastructure, there is a significant opportunity to improve storage and transport capabilities, particularly by adopting renewable energy technologies like solar-powered cold storage.

Solar-powered cold storage could reduce energy costs, ensure perishable goods reach markets on time, and minimise post-harvest losses, driving greater efficiency in the agricultural supply chain.

The PURE Growth Fund, launching at the end of Q2 2025, will provide vital financial support for businesses integrating renewable energy into the agri-food value chain.

⏳ Further extension: Submit your expression of interest for the PURE Growth Fund! 🌱

REEEP is inviting private-sector clean energy and agribusinesses operating or planning activities in Tanzania to express their interest in applying for the PURE Growth Fund. The Call for Proposals (CfP) will officially open later in Q2, but we are offering a further extension for submitting your Expression of Interest (EOI) until next Tuesday, March 18th. We encourage potential applicants to take advantage of this extension and submit their EOI by the new deadline!

The PURE Growth Fund aims to strengthen agri-food value chains by financing productive use of renewable energy (PURE) solutions, helping businesses:

✅ Increase incomes
✅ Reduce post-harvest losses
✅ Lower carbon emissions

Funding: EUR 250,000 to 1,000,000 per project over 3+ years
