📢 Ahead of the October Environment and Energy Councils, business organisations, local and regional government networks, and civil society organisations are calling on EU Member States to strengthen the trajectory initiated through the European Green Deal also in the post-2030 period.

Our joint statement calls for:

🔹a framework aligned with at least 90% net domestic emissions reductions by 2040
🔹 real and predictable emissions reductions through a strong EU ETS
🔹 continued binding national climate targets, separating gross emission reductions, biogenic removals, and permanent industrial removals
🔹 binding EU renewable energy and energy efficiency targets
🔹 increased public and private investment in Europe’s decarbonisation and resilience

A rapid and fair transition will strengthen Europe’s energy security, competitiveness and resilience, while reducing exposure to fossil fuel price volatility.

🌿 Amis de la Nature France mobilized for the climate across France this past weekend! Another way to celebrate the Global Naturefriends Days 🙌

Organizations, families with children, young and old alike - everyone came together to send a clear message to the President of the Republic and government officials: climate inaction is no longer an option.

🤖🌍 Can AI make tourism more sustainable - or does it simply make it more efficient?

27 September is World Tourism Day! This year’s theme, “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism”, comes at a time when AI is rapidly changing the way we travel.

AI can recommend destinations, plan routes and influence the places we discover. But it can also help manage visitor flows, conserve resources and give greater visibility to local businesses.

So the crucial question is:

👉 What kind of tourism do we want to shape with AI?

Digitalisation brings opportunities - but also challenges. Algorithms and platforms can turn destinations into the next social media hotspot, put additional pressure on local providers and create new dependencies. And we should not overlook the environmental footprint of the data centres powering these technologies.

🌱 On World Tourism Day, we’re taking a closer look at the opportunities and limitations of artificial intelligence in tourism - and asking how digital innovation can contribute to tourism that is more sustainable, responsible and people-centred.

Because one thing should remain at the heart of digital tourism: people. ❤️

🌍 The climate crisis is being felt across Europe - and Austria is no exception.

2026 has brought exceptionally dry conditions to Austria. According to GeoSphere Austria, spring 2026 was the driest spring in the country’s 169-year climate record, with precipitation around 50% below the 1991–2020 average.

💧 The consequences are visible in our landscapes and waterways. Didi, chairman of Naturefriends Mauthausen in Upper Austria, shared a moving video showing the dramatic situation of the Gusen stream - and calling for greater awareness and action.

Climate change is not a distant threat. It is already changing the places we live in.

🌱 Let’s raise awareness. Let’s act. Let’s protect our water, nature and communities.

🌍 World Cleanup Day – Sunday 20 September
A cleaner world starts with all of us. 💚

Join us for our Old Danube cleanup! We’ll be teaming up with the Kaisermühlen Naturefriends to clear trash from the Upper and Lower Old Danube. We’ll follow the banks on both sides of the Old Danube - both on foot along the shore and by boat or SUP from “Meine Insel” or using our own SUPs. Afterward, we’ll wrap up the afternoon with a snack at the “Platzl.”

2:30 p.m. at the “Platzl” of the Kaisermühlen Naturefriends
Address:
Ernst-Sadil-Platz 1, 1220 Vienna
Duration:
3:00 to 5:00 p.m. – followed by a relaxed wrap-up
