🎥 Emerging Leaders in Their Own Words

Laughter in the hallways. Honest reflections between sessions. Small moments that turned into friendships. ✨

Throughout the ELC, participants shared what moved them, what surprised them, and what they’ll carry home from Vienna. Each story revealed a different kind of courage — the kind that listens, learns, and leads with dignity.

At the ELC in Vienna, participants lit up the stage with their Culture Presentations, bringing to life the traditions, songs, and dances that reflect the heart of their nations. Each performance was more than art. The evening became a vibrant celebration of nations, reminding everyone that our differences do not divide us, but rather enrich the human family.

Later that night, participants explored the city, wandering historic landmarks and illuminated streets that tell centuries of stories. From the charm of St. Stephen’s Cathedral to the dinner table, every stop was a moment to reflect, connect, and appreciate the beauty of both culture and friendship.

Laughter and conversations filled the night air as young leaders from across the world shared experiences and dreams!

🗣️During the ELC in Vienna, participants engaged in a powerful and intellectually charged debate exploring one of the most complex ethical questions of our time, how human dignity relates to freedom.

Representing diverse backgrounds and worldviews, delegates discussed whether freedom means the ability to choose without restriction, or if it’s the ability to exercise our reason and will.

Throughout the debate, participants demonstrated not only sharp reasoning and eloquence, but also deep empathy. Listening, challenging, and building upon each other’s ideas with respect. The exchange of perspectives reflected the very heart of the World Youth Alliance: a community that seeks truth through dialogue, grounded in the intrinsic worth of every human person.

The discussion reminded everyone that debate is not about winning arguments, but about understanding an essential skill for future leaders shaping a culture of life and solidarity.

“Speak to individuals who you disagree with, not to win, but to understand perspective,” said Dr. Felix Böllmann.

The 2025 World Youth Alliance Emerging Leaders Conference kicked off with energy and openness in Vienna. From breaking the ice to thought-provoking talks on gender ideology and medical ethics, and finally an interactive workshop on advocacy, every moment pushed us to listen deeper and work together. A day full of learning, laughter, and connections we’ll carry forward.

World Youth Alliance is grounded in the respect for the human dignity of every person, which is the foundation for human rights. Respecting it means also acknowledging the truth about the person and the realities that define the human being. Gender Ideology states that s*x and gender are not synonyms or interchangeable concepts and further claims that these notions describe two different realities. In other words, gender ideology separates s*x from gender. The idea that a person not only can but should autonomously define their gender, aside from the “s*x assigned at birth” poses biological and scientific problems, in addition to philosophical and moral considerations.

We invite you to join us for the Emerging Leader's Conference (ELC) which will take place in Vienna, Austria from October 2-4, 2025.
