We are an international, independent aid organisation dedicated to helping children, adolescents and families in need.

How does CONCORDIA measure well-being?
We ask children how they feel: whether they feel safe, whether they feel healthy, whether they feel trusted, and whether they have relationships that are good for them. 💚

To help children achieve a sense of well-being, CONCORDIA creates safe spaces in its day centres.
Children receive hot meals, learning support, psychosocial support, creative activities, hygiene facilities and reliable caregivers. Families are also involved, as a child’s environment is crucial to their wellbeing.

The 2025 results: 633 children were surveyed. 94 per cent of them reported feeling well.🌱

🌍 Young Voices, Shared Ideas, Stronger Participation!
From 6 to 8 October 2026, ten young representatives of CONCORDIA from Kosovo, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and Austria came together in Vienna for the International Youth Council Programme Week, under the theme “Youth Participation in Action – Training and Workshops for Democratic Engagement”.
During these days, young people took part in interactive workshops, group discussions and activities focused on youth participation, shared decision-making and democratic engagement.
Through sessions on the Lundy Model, participation in Europe and the role of Youth Councils, participants shared their experiences, discussed common challenges and developed ideas for future cooperation.
The programme also included a city rally organised by LenZ Lern- und Familienzentrum and a special visit to Stift Klosterneuburg, where participants met local students from BG/BRG Klosterneuburg for a workshop called “Different Lives, Shared Stories”.
Beyond the workshops, the week was an opportunity to build friendships, learn from each other and strengthen the voices of young people across CONCORDIA.
Together, we are creating more opportunities for young people to be heard, involved and empowered!

On October 14th, CONCORDIA was honoured at the United Nations Women’s Guild Charity Awards Ceremony for the project “Childhood Comfort: Building a Stronger Future”.

Our International Programme Director, Martina Raytchinova, accepted the award on behalf of CONCORDIA.

The United Nations Women’s Guild of Vienna is supporting the project with a grant of 5,000 euros. This funding will be used to equip the multi-purpose centres in Pleșeni and Taraclia in the Republic of Moldova with essential learning and educational materials: from blackboards, tables and chairs to books, board games, toys and school supplies.

This will create learning spaces where children are not only supported in their academic development but can also further develop their social and emotional skills.

Today, on World Poverty Day, we remind ourselves that poverty must not be allowed to determine a child’s future.

For poverty is far more than what a family lacks today. It can rob children of opportunities for many years to come and limit their future prospects. Yet every child deserves the chance to forge their own path.

Two pictures, one story: the boy in the portrait is called Mihai. He was 12 years old when he first came to CONCORDIA in the Republic of Moldova.
The young man holding the picture today is Mihai himself – eight years later.
Mihai grew up without a stable home. His start in life was anything but easy, but with CONCORDIA’s support, he has made it.
Today he is 20 years old, has a job and attends evening school.
His big dream? To study food technology, develop new recipes and turn his passion for cooking into a career.

His journey has not been easy, and there are still challenges ahead of him. But today, Mihai is moving, step by step, towards a future he wants to shape for himself. 💛

On the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, Mihai’s story shows why long-term support is so important.

Investing in children means investing in the future of Europe. 🇪🇺👧🧒
On 30 September, the European Parliament hosted the conference ‘Make one exception – Fund the Child Guarantee’, organised by Renew Europe and MEPs Hristo Petrov and Fabienne Keller. The focus was on one crucial question: How can the European Child Guarantee be adequately and sustainably funded in the next EU budget for 2028–2034?

CONCORDIA was represented by Felix Michael Hafner at the conference in Brussels.

The discussion made it clear that child poverty is not only a social challenge, but also has long-term societal and economic consequences.
Around 19.3 million children in the EU are currently at risk of poverty or social exclusion. The European Commission therefore emphasises the importance of investing in early childhood education, care, health, nutrition and adequate housing.

Of particular interest were the discussions on how European investment can actually make a difference on the ground:
👉 Systemic change rather than exclusively project-based funding.
👉 Children and their perspectives must be more closely involved in decision-making processes.
👉 Local authorities and civil society must work more closely together.
👉 Child poverty cannot be solved by a single measure – a holistic approach is needed that combines various interventions.

The economic perspective also played an important role: failing to invest entails high social and economic costs in the long term. Research and evidence-based policy can help to target investments more effectively and achieve sustainable change for children and families.
The conference has thus forged an important link between EU funding, policy, research, civil society and practical implementation on the ground – and demonstrated that the coming years offer a significant opportunity to strengthen the fight against child poverty at a structural level.

At the Daphne-CHILD High-Level Conference in Brussels, 48 civil society organizations from nine European countries were invited to share their experiences with representatives from civil society and the political sphere.

One of them is CONCORDIA Bulgaria.

As one of the organizations funded by the Daphne-CHILD program, our representatives were able to share their experiences, challenges, and solutions regarding the prevention of violence against children and strong, integrated child protection systems.

Our International Program Director Martina Raytchinova attended the event on our behalf. She noted: “Child protection becomes effective when sound concepts are translated into concrete, practical tools suitable for everyday use. This exchange in Brussels shows just how much we can learn from one another across Europe.”

CONCORDIA took part in the 21st Annual NGO+ Fair organised by Central European University in Vienna.

Numerous organisations, students, researchers and members of the local community gathered on the Central European University campus to discuss social engagement, projects and opportunities for collaboration.

CONCORDIA was also there to provide an insight into our work with children, young people and families in need, and to engage in conversation with students.

How does CONCORDIA measure its reach?
We track how many children, youth, and families are reached through our programs—and the extent to which they receive support. 🌍

To do this, CONCORDIA works in day centers, with mobile teams, and through counseling, family support, health services, education, winter aid, and low-threshold support directly in the communities. This allows us to reach people who would otherwise often have no access to support services.

The 2025 results:
CONCORDIA reached a total of 21,371 people.
7,871 people received intensive support in centers.
13,500 people received low-threshold support.

We know that the more people learn about our work, the more children, youth, and families we can support—on their journey toward stability, protection, and new prospects 🌱

The members of the CONCORDIA Youth Council worked together to create a piece of art on the theme of inclusion. Everyone contributed their own ideas, perspectives, and creativity.

The result is more than just a work of art!
The message from our Youth Council in Kosovo is clear: Everyone deserves a space where they can be heard, help shape the future and be part of positive change.

“For me, it was the first time I didn’t just feel like a ‘child with a difficult background’, but like a person with a voice that matters. I was heard – really heard. That changes the way you see yourself.”
