The Austrian World Music Association is an independent organization and platform which connects all players in the field of world music.

The World Music Austria Association is an independent organization and platform which connects all players in the field of “world music”: musicians, agents, managers, promoters, label owners, traders, journalists, associations, and arts initiatives. All institutions and individuals who work in the field of world music in Austria and have strong ties and great passion for “World Music made in Austr

ia” are eligible for membership. The activities and goals of individual members are not at odds with each other, but rather enable an important exchange within each sector – musicians, promoters, and audiences are connected by their passion for world music. It is a central aim of the association to improve conditions for people and institutions in the field of world music and to significantly increase the visibility and presence of world music in Austria. Cultural initiatives, immigrant associations and musicians who have become residents of Austria, require orientation and network support. The World Music Austria Association is committed to this endeavor.

Open Call: QMA On Stage: Music Residency 2026
QUESTION ME & ANSWER
Application Deadline: July 13th.

QMA is looking for musicians across different stages of their journey:

✨ Spot 1: Musicians who moved to Vienna within the last 6 years from the Global South or CESEE region - all career levels welcome.
✨ Spot 2: Emerging musicians who started making music within the last 3 years, identify as Black, PoC, migrant*, or have refugee experience, with roots in the Global South or CESEE region, and live in Vienna.
✨ Spot 3: Established musicians with an extensive music career in Vienna who identify as Black, PoC, migrant*, or have refugee experience, with roots in the Global South or CESEE region.

Alongside the program, established artists from Vienna’s music scene will join songwriting sessions, while experienced music industry mentors will offer guidance and support. Participants will also have the chance to win a range of prizes, including professional photoshoots, microphones, and more. An external jury consisting of music industry professionals will select the three musicians.

Was für ein Abend! 💜 Die Nachtschicht 2025 füllte die Sargfabrik mit vier außergewöhnlichen Konzerten – von psychedelischem Jazz mit Decolonize Your Mind Society über türkische 70s-Grooves von YAMAN bis hin zu poetischem Chanson von Tara Mehrad Trio und verspieltem Klezmer von Die Hawaras.

Ein großes Dankeschön an alle Bands und an das wunderbare Publikum, das diese musikalische Reise möglich gemacht hat. Hier einige Eindrücke des Abends, eingefangen von Paola Lesslhumer. 📸
