Vienna 2011 – the centenary of the International Women’s Day
March 19th, 1911: Thousands of women in Austria, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and the USA were marching in the streets demanding their rights. The first international women’s day was born. It’s centenary is a good occasion for gender balance: whether in the global pop culture or in the contemporary music scene, whether at the interfaces with the visual arts, film, science, and literature – femous highlights the diversity in female creativity.
