On April 18, 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00, a Peace Vigil will take place at Platz der Menschenrechte.
An initiative promoted by a group of Italian citizens living in Austria, inspired by the long-standing peace movement PerugiAssisi per la cultura della pace.

This initiative is part of the “Giro d’Italia per la Pace 2026”, continuing a tradition of peace marches that has been bringing people together since 1961.

We, the EMERGENCY Volunteers in Austria, will be there to stand together for peace, solidarity, and respect. In a time when conflicts and divisions are growing, we believe it is essential to come together and take a clear stand for a more humane and peaceful Europe.

🎬🌊 Film Screening: BEYOND THE BEACH 🌊🎬

In cooperation with the Anticolonial Film Club
On Saturday, March 14 at 19:00, EMERGENCY Austria, together with FAIHS (Anticolonial Film Club) invites you to a special screening of Beyond the Beach – The Hell and the Hope — a powerful documentary that challenges dominant narratives about war, displacement, and humanitarian action.

This documentary follows the work of EMERGENCY teams from war-torn Afghanistan to refugee camps in Iraq, and onto the perilous crossings of the Mediterranean Sea. Through firsthand footage, it shows the people behind humanitarian aid — from doctors and nurses to rescue workers — and the human cost of conflict and forced migration.

We are especially happy to host this screening at Villa Vida Cafe — a q***r community café and vibrant space for exchange, resistance, and care.

Once again, this Carnival has confirmed itself as the biggest celebration for Italian families in Vienna and a beautiful tradition within our community. On February 15th, more than 200 children and adults filled the hall with colors, smiles, and contagious joy ✨

Children’s Carnival with the Italian Community in Austria 🎭

Last Sunday, EMERGENCY Austria had the pleasure of taking part in the Children’s Carnival, a beautifully organised celebration for families and children of the Italian community.

Thanks to the kind invitation and warm hospitality of Comites Austria. Our volunteers represented EMERGENCY with enthusiasm and dedication, and our children’s animation activity was a real success. Many children, dressed in wonderful carnival costumes, joined us, participated actively and had a fantastic time. Their joy and engagement were the highlight of our day.

A heartfelt thank you to Margherita from Comites for documenting the event with so many photos, including moments from our activities.
Congratulations on organising such a successful and joyful event. We are thankful to have been part of it and look forward to future collaborations.

Ten years ago today, Sierra Leone was declared Ebola-free. When the epidemic began, struck one of the poorest countries in the world, going on to infect and kill more than 14,000 people (WHO).

EMERGENCY’s Surgical and Paediatric Centre in Goderich, Freetown, was one of the only health facilities in the country to remain fully operational. We:

😷 implemented strict protocols and procedures to ensure personal safety.

🏥 opened specialist Ebola Treatment and Holding Centres, including a 100-bed facility in Goderich equipped with a ventilated ICU: the only facility of its kind for Ebola patients.

🦠 continued to treat adults and children for infectious diseases like malaria, typhoid and cholera, as well as surgical emergencies.

In the midst of the worst Ebola outbreak in history, EMERGENCY continued admitting patients to its hospitals, and cared for hundreds of people at its newly-formed Ebola Treatment Centres.

Ten years on, EMERGENCY’s thoughts are with everyone who was affected by the Ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone and across West Africa, and pays tribute to all the frontline responders and healthcare workers who saved lives and worked tirelessly to end the outbreak.
