Coming from different cultural and religious backgrounds we got the chance to encounter new worlds. After our time together it truly felt like family and a safe space of respect and love.

Building a “reel tower” of human stories was the bold attempt. As we were singing in our camp song “every stone that is thrown at me I can build into a tower, more power. What you are really building is the tower in you. The powers of stories in you”.

And we definitely felt that power! 💪

Not only did we play crazy games together, the artistic focus this year was on creating short reels that tell stories of diversity and community. The smallgroups came up with their own concepts and where supported by artists from different genres like rap, theater, singing, production, social media and more.

Jumping into 2024 but still not over 2023!

One of our big highlights was definitely Knüpfwerk Camp, this year in Italy! Together with absolutely creative and unique youngsters from Italy, Jerusalem, Austria and Germany we spent 10 days diving into the topic “con-fusion. The reel tower of Babel”.

We usually ended the mediation with a greeting of peace that stems from true encounter with ourselves and our questions and pain and the loving divine.

During the presentations people had the chance to listen to some songs of the musical “JOB - where are you father”. When listening carefully we could all find ourselves in this story at some point in our lives.

The presentation was a combination of presenting the story of Job as told in the musical “Job - where are you father” as well as elements and testimonies of the work of the Upper Room.
An invitation to dive into the search of an answer to the question “WHY?”.

Continuing our throwback with “die frohe Hiobsbotschaft - the good news of Job. We got to visit different parishes and schools to share the story of Job. In doing that we could draw parallels to our work with the Upper Room.
Stories of suffering and big questions, but even more stories of hope and encounter.

Pic 1 - grätzlfest at Yppenplatz Wien gave a stage to different artists to celebrate together
Pic 2 - Heurigenkonferenz invited different theologians to discuss diversity within their spiritual homes at a Wiener Heurigen.
Pic 3 - Stammtischtheologie challenged young students to write about issues that should be looked at more from their religious perspective.
